Album Notes
InTown Band writes and performs eclectic soul fusion, evoking the full palette of
danceable music styles, from classic R&B to reggae, Latin, and other world rhythms.
Gospel-inspired lead singer, Patricia Allen, flows seamlessly through up-tempo floor
stompers and original jazz ballads alike, supported with rich vocal harmonies by Tom
Godfrey (guitar) and Thomas Vinton (piano, organ and keyboard bass). Yahya
Rahmaan rounds out the band with unpredictably infectious drum parts. Vinton’s
intermittent lead vocals offer an edgy counterpoint to Allen’s, helping to create a sound
that ignores boundaries still all-too-persistent in mainstream American music. The same
spirit that created rock ‘n roll out of mixing rural and urban idioms in the 50s is alive
today in this groundbreaking, genre-bending ensemble. Thematically, InTown Band
fits into the “music that makes you think while you move your dancing feet” category,
covering social, political and spiritual issues. When treating relationships, the songs move
well beyond “boy meets girl.” The group’s debut seven-song mini-album is available
at InTownBand.Com and most online music stores for immediate download or CD
