Sandra's Face

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Excellent tune...almost like Ray Davies on acid...intelligent & melodic, but a little psychedelic...spin it!.....From 'GRAY TEST'
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Anarchists
I'm a big fan of Steves.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
serendipity IX - autoselection
i like the atmosphere created by the lyrics and the cinematic
widescreen quality it has...I can picture it as its playing…
--------------------------------------------------------------------
ISONtopes
This is ethereal romantical storytelling bedded in a magical garden of light, rhythm,
shadow, and alluring sound. Oh, and the rhythm is sublime ... bass run alone, and Steve
rides it melodically and masterfully, hitting the occasional blue note, almost used in a jazz setting,
but in this sound scenario it's almost gothic in a natural way. Whoever this Sandra is,
she sure does inspire great work ! Of course, Ison's work is always up to that par ...

What an incredible melody and harmonies (the words are good too!). A couple of quite pleasant surprises in the production.

serendipity XIII - collaboration station
Another Steve Ison/Steve April collaboration, the former providing music,
vocals and (most) instrumentation, the latter, some fine words. It's classed as '60s/70s
West Coast pop, but to my ears, it's very British in a Housemartins way (which is a good thing,
and before anyone says they were East Coast, yeah yeah yeah...). And I'm a real sucker for a
cello, too. Great melody, deceptively simple lyrics, and it all comes together, despite the
essential sadness of the story, to make a happy poppy whole [additional note, in response
to some puzzled queries: the Housemartins, whose bass player was Norman Cook, aka Fatboy Slim,
and the lead person Paul Heaton, who went on to form the Beautiful South, are associated with
Kingston-upon-Hull, on the east coast of England, and have nothing to do with Boston, Mass, NYC
or elsewhere on the eastern seaboard of mainland north America]

Get your West Coast Cherry Popped by this new Ison tune... it doesn't always have to hurt, in fact,
it can sound real good just like this does. Stick with the mastahz !

Its Saturday Morning, you are cleaning house and listening to music. As you know
you can't just listen to anything when you are cleaning, it has to be something that motivates.
This song should be on your playlist for Saturdays! it is the perfect Cleaning the house song!
Toe tapping, constant beat, catchy lyrics.

I'm not sure what you'd call this other than cool & timeless. A very interesting mix of psychedelia,
1920's pop & burlesque with gypsy & Paul Simon touchings all rolled into one;
Using modern lyrical references to tell the world's oldest tale. Very interesting piece indeed!

If you like extremes and wanna take it to the limit, fire up this monsterTrack 'n
test the roll bar in it. Just back from Atlantis/Bahamas, the raft of quayside monster
Yachts and MJ gettin' in some $1K BJ two tables away. Just as the mood was fadin' this crusher
got me right back in it...The ocean's full of frenzied fed-up feeding sharks & Vegas
lights'll blind you in the deserted desert dark. You're bettin' on just this last bet,
you're gunna let it ride, 'n if The Boss gets tipped-off your monster's idlin' outside.
Your amusement park, your abusement park...ain't no way to tell what happens in the dark.
Steve will get you there, sell you a one-way ticket...but then you're on your own when you're
neck-deep in it. Another crusher Steve!

Great song, Steve! This has the old-time feel of a Cab Calloway number. Love the mandolin sounds
and other various ear candies. Nice! I came across this one while visiting Larry W Johnson's
Pipeline page. -M-

[Amended review] Lyrics mostly by Steve April, everything else by Steve Ison. Ooh, here's a song
to sing as you stagger home from the pub, even the guitar sounds like it's had a skinful.
Many thanks to Larry W Johnson for the tip-off.

Celebrity love never so cooly defined. Let’s build a big funeral pyre and
throe these leeches upon top. Either that or send 'em to that celebrity love island indefinitely
and let em fuck and beat each other to death. Very cool song by the way. As cool as a bag
of frogs and everything music should be. Check this out or I will have to send the
boys around. -If You Think You're cool YOUR not! Station

THE SAD SONGS
Song dedicated to Natalee Holloway, who went missing in Aruba, around May 30, 2005.
I felt a personal connection with Natalee, dunno why. A telepathic affinity, an ESP connection?
Lyrics to "Identity Thief" were posted on soundclick.com a few days before her disappearance,
and mention Aruba by name.

What the Folk!
This is a classic folk rock style which has an overall superb arrangement and pretty decent
production too...The song is well presented and develops nicely. Top Notch vocals are the
signature of these Steve and Steve collabs. I especially love the way it ends with the A Cappella
These guys sure know how to put it all on the line and deliver great sounds…
