Album Notes
Things I Like is a group of fun songs for kids and their parents. These songs were inspired by the birth of my daughter and were unexpectedly written with her and for her. It features the amazing guitar of Mike Fleming and Ryan Patrick Murphy’s drumming and recording skillz. Paul Mertens (Brian Wilson) dropped in to add picolo and flute to the song Sour Puss and Patrick from Wilco contributed an insane solo and more to the song Team Member. Geoff Gilkes played bass lines to 3 of the tunes and did I forget to mention Istvan! I’m all over this thing.

Very cool
This is great music for kids today. It's fun, happy and catchy but cool as well. It rocks, which makes listening to it fun for the grown ups. I bought the CD for my niece and she loves it. On Xmas morning all the adults wanted to hear it again and again too. Plus, the songwriting and musical skills are top rate. It's actually good--really good--unlike a lot of (ok most) music out there. I have a little cousin who has memorized that horrible Ke$ha song, and I'm going to give her one of these CDs for her birthday because I'd rather hear her sing a rocking song about boogers.

Jeff Phillips

Are you kidding me???
+ + + + + , etc. (added on to the five stars)!!!

Well, here is the Phillips' family review of the 'Things I Like' CD. The one thing I'm always worried about when I buy a CD is that every song sounds the same. The other thing I worry about with kid's CDs is am I going to be forced to play it because my kids love it and I hate it (and I have because they are my kids and I like to see them happy). All I can say about your CD is, ARE YOU KIDDING ME! Enough of the tension building, I'm not very good at that anyway. We ALL LOVE IT! It's great that you incorporated the bluesie, folkie, rockie, jazzie and all the other 'ie' sounds into your music. Also, you used lots of 'fun' words that keep kids (mine at least) interested like boogers, smelly socks, bugs being chased by frogs and of course sneezes that come out the wrong end. To quote Grandpa Joe and Charlie Bucket you've "got a golden ticket." Seriously, you HAVE TO do something with this. Whether you need to get Britney Spears' agent or if you have to contact one of the Wiggles you have to do something to get this out and into the public's ears. From Amanda (my 10 year old): he has an amazing voice and great music, from Alison (my 8 year old): you are really good, for a boy, from Emily (one of my 3 year olds): a big bright-eyed smile and yes I like it, and from Eliot (my other 3 year old): uh-huh, with a no lie stare when I ask him if he likes your songs and lastly from me (40, shhh, I'm a kid at heart): every song has some"Things I Like" whether it's the beat or the lyrics. Love the "hip-hip hooray" sarcasm from Sour Puss because all of us parents have been there. And I sure do hope you can get this music out there, us parents need an alternative to what is out there now. You have a product that can succeed and my advice is (whatever that is worth) run with it, even if your socks get smelly.

P.S. When I'm with my kids I've been pulling up to stop lights and putting down the windows and blasting your music, lots of smiles and eye-brow raising like what is that amazing sound. Good for you. Have a great day.

Good stuff!
“Things I Like” is great! The songs are some of the best pop rock I've heard in a long time, whether or not for kids. I sing out loud "What's Momma Doing?" at least a few times a week, (then ad-lib things my wife is actually doing for my son.)Good music & fun.
