Album Notes
The Ithaca Flute Duo members, Elizabeth Shuhan and Juliana May Pepinsky, are both professional flutists living in Ithaca, NY.

Elizabeth Shuhan is a visiting lecturer of flute at Cornell University, a lecturer in music education at Ithaca College and instructor of flute at Opus Ithaca School of Music. As principal flutist with the Fort Smith Symphony (AR), she has recorded three CDs for the Naxos label. Ms. Shuhan performs regularly with Opera Ithaca, the Cornell Wind Quintet, Ithaca New Music Collective, Shuhan-Luk Trio, Ithaca Flute Duo and the Skaneateles Festival.

Juliana May Pepinsky is a lecturer at Cornell University where she coaches chamber music groups and teaches flute. An active chamber musician, she performs regularly with the Ithaca Flute Duo, the Fingerlakes Flutes, and Ensemble X. She received her M.M. from Yale University and her B.M. From the Oberlin Conservatory.

In 2014, Liz and Juliana formed Ithaca Flute Duo, collaborating and performing locally, regionally and nationally. Their mission is
to share music composed by women and to also perform music that includes the traditional C flute, piccolo, alto flute and bass flutes. They perform works old and new and have commissioned and premiered works written specifically for them.

Debut features music that Ithaca Flute Duo has enjoyed performing throughout the last four years. This album highlights prominent flute composers such as Katherine Hoover, Cynthia Folio and Nicole Chamberlain. They are assisted by their frequent collaborator, pianist Andrea Merrill on Flower Duet, Z3, Aria and Fantasy on Hungarian Motives.
