Album Notes
Webster’s definition of ‘ivory tower’ is: a figurative place of mental withdrawal from reality. The phrase is used as a symbol of escapism. Independent recording artists: Ivory Tower Project is a new breed of ‘old school’ rockers. Their music is inspired by the great Classic Pop/Rock artists of the 70’s and 80’s.

Ivory Tower Project (ITP) was founded by NY veteran songwriters: Johnny Jace and Mark Regula. Their objective was to write memorable songs from the heart and soul. NYC veteran guitarist: Tony Novarro was soon recruited, and Novarro and Regula formed the core of the band: Ivory Tower. As Ivory Tower lost their band members, they were replaced by the NY Metro area’s finest studio musicians that transcended Ivory Tower from being a band into a studio Project.

ITP signed with Guerrilla Records who released a four-song EP entitled: 'RED HOT' and re-released internationally in 2008. This CD has received rave reviews and airplay on over 600 radio stations in 32 countries worldwide. This newer release has been professionally mastered and the CD has new cover art.

“The hit record that should have been”… There is no set in stone formula that ITP follows; they make use of the wide range of colors and styles to create songs that embody the best elements of the the 70s and 80s, and they do it very well.” ~ Paul Anderson: The Entertainment Bank - http://theentertainmentbankcd.blogspot.com/2012/07/red-hot-ivory-tower-project.html

“A rare find”…as the CD progressed, I actually became more & more impressed with it…a blast from the 80’s” ~ Cyrus Rhodes: Indie Music Digest - http://indiemusicdigest.com/Ivory%20Tower%20Project%20CD%20Review.html

"(Ivory Tower Project) make 'Classic Pop/Rock inspired by the great artists of the 70s and 80s'. Immediately I thought of the greats like Chicago, Journey, Foreigner etc, and couldn’t help but check out their sound. I wasn’t disappointed.” ~ Jemex: Boom Boom Chick - http://boomboomchik.com/2010/05/the-ivory-tower-project.html

“Listening to this album immediately brings to mind such classic melodic rock bands as Journey, gobs of Survivor, and yes, even a little bit of Axe. If the mention of those bands gets your salivary glands to start working then read on, because what Ivory Tower Project does with their influences places this disc handsomely right next door.” ~ The Ripple Effect - http://ripplemusic.blogspot.com/2010/01/melodic-rock-update-featuring-bridge-of.html

“If you like your rock with a strong dose of the whole 80's vibe, check them out.” ~ Quirky New York Chick - http://www.quirkynychick.com/2009/11/inbox-vol-1.html

"Listening to Ivory Tower Project is like taking a trip back to the 80s. Every song on 'Red Hot' is destined to make those who grew up in the 80s have Deja Vu. Mark Regula has a voice that will stand up with the best of them and he proves that consistently throughout the disc. If you are a fan of old school 80s rock, this will fit well into your collection." ~ Elfslut: Mossip – Your Guide To Everything Music - http://mossip.livejournal.com/132032.html

"Listening to 'Red Hot' reminds me of everything good about the decade in which I was born, and is even more fun than playing Mario Bros. on your Nintendo, while wearing a Members Only jacket and waiting for your Chia Pet to grow." ~ J. Turner: Indie-Music.com - http://www.indie-music.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=8394

ELO/Beatles Forever - Keith James Sinclair

RED HOT - Ivory Tower Project
Hello ... Hello ... my old friends ... It's great to see you once again! One of the many benefits and greatest thrills of my partnership with Hamilton Radio [HR] is coming across fine and talented independent artistes. And so, when my friend and colleague Gino 'Doc G' DiPierro introduced both myself [and my listeners] to the: 'Ivory Tower Project', and ITP leading light Mark Regula contacted me and kindly sent me their 2009 release entitled: "Red Hot", the time was indeed right to introduce ITP to ELOBF.

When ELO were a major force on those FM radio air play waves back in the late seventies and most of the eighties, they shared the limelight with great AOR acts like: Foreigner; Survivor; Journey; Toto; Boston; REO Speedwagon and Air Supply amongst many others. The repertoire of the: 'Ivory Tower Project' is both a tribute to and an extension of that great music genre and is as ear pleasing as those bands were.

"Red Hot" track listing: [1] "My Name"; [2] "Burning"; [3] "Gotcha"; [4] "Way Too Late"; [5] "Guilty [You're The One]"; [6] "You Can See It In My Eyes"; [7] "Dreamer"; [8] "I Can't Tell Him [Her]"; [9] "Centre Street Radio Interview"; [10] "I Think I Fell In Love With You"

Whereas the artwork and imagery of ITP and "Red Hot" is reminiscent of ELO's 1981 classic "Time" and specifically those self same lyrics within: "The Way Life's Meant To Be" and "When Time Stood Still", the thumping bass and slick guitar licks coupled with strong lyrics and clear vocals remind the listener of that great era of radio friendly rock we all knew and loved. And it is a tribute to Mark's passion and steadfastness that this "band-who-became-a-project" have stood the course despite tragedies and personnel changes. I like this CD and suggest that you take a look at their web site in order to not only find out out more about ITP but to also consider getting a hold of: "Red Hot" thus: ELO Beatles Forever [ELOBF] recommends and endorses the: 'Ivory Tower Project' to all music fans who enjoy the music of: ELO; The Move; The Beatles and related artistes out there in the ELOBF universe.

Classic Rock at its best - Great retro sound - Fancy a trip back to the 70's and/or 80's? Look no further - It's been tastefully put together with each track earning a well-deserved spot on the album.

Thanks to Melodic.net, where I read the review about this great piece of music! This album is like a little time machine which takes you back on a journey to the Eighties. The first four songs are just pure AOR heaven, brilliant stuff. The rest doesn't hold the same fantastic level, but still good stuff, all in all a big recommendation! I hope to hear more from the band in the future! BUY!

Dani DiPierro

So amazing. Buy!
Wow. Amazing. Blows me away. Love this group. It was like time travel to when I was a kid in the 1980's.

Sweet Lady-Bug

I bought it and I love it!
If you are tired of what radio is playing, the answer to that is to skip what record labels are pushing and to look online at artists that are defying the norm and putting out music to suit the tastes of the general population by self recording their music. Ivory Tower Project's ‘Red Hot’ is just the kind of music that suits my tastes, having grown up in the era of rock and roll. This CD blends the best of rock and roll from the late 70's to the early 80's. The lyrics of “My Name” are haunting and Mark Regula does an excellent job of singing with much emotion to bring out the best of this song and many others on the CD. He is able to quickly raise and lower the pitch of his voice showing what a talented singer he truly is. John Jace and Mark Regula's ability to write catchy lyrics is well represented in the first three songs on the CD. Mark Regula's ability to write lyrics on his own is well shown in the fourth song. The first four songs on the CD blew me away and are the best ones on the CD. However, the other lyricists, musicians and singers in ‘Red Hot’ also keep you interested. It is hard to like every song on a CD, but Tony Novarro's outstanding guitar playing makes sure you stay interested in the music and gives it a sound that many would call Melodic Rock.
