Ivory Tower Project Is one of those bands that are far and few between. The Sound is a Full On, Old School Classic Rock Style, with a dash of Pop thrown in for good measure. This Album not only delivers a punch, but stands up in this modern Music era. Their CD "Red Hot" has to be the best this reviewer has heard in a good many years. Mark Regula has such a perfect voice for these songs. He pushes the limits with Rock songs like My Name, Burning, Gotcha, and Way Too Late, yet can hold your heart in his hands, with songs like You Can See It In My Eyes, Dreamer, I Can't tell Him (Her) and I think I fell In Love With You. Mark's expertise shines throughout this album. These tracks were chosen with the intention of showcasing Mark Regula's lead vocals and Tony Nevarro's back-up vocals. They are brought to life, literally, by the sheer talent and range of these two outstanding Artists. With Mike Carbone on Drums there is no way this Band can miss the mark. This Album "Red Hot" has it all. Hard hitting Rock songs, done in an Old School fashion. You remember that right? Back when you could hear the Lead Singer crystal clear. But it also has a softer side. Don't waste your money on rock you can't hear. Ivory Tower Project has the perfect balance. Guitar lead, drum induced, well thought out lyrics and a dam fine vocal section. This is a "must have" for your Rock collection. Stop by and have a listen today www.IvoryTowerProject.com . It is available at CDBaby and Amazon.com and Super D as well. Yours In The Music Shashona Indie Showcase - www.indieshowcase.net AwesomeRadio - www.awesomeradio.net

RED HOT - Ivory Tower Project
The hit record that should have been -- what an interesting situation. The Ivory Tower Project is like a classic musical ensemble playing the best of music from an era with all the accuracy of the recording, and playing styles of that period, but again, good music is timeless -- what's good once is always good. In fact, in today's world where everything sounds canned and a lot of what they call "music" is mostly computer generated sounds, it's a pleasure to hear this band. It's like discovering an industry secret that is finally revealed, and available for public consumption.
The Ivory Tower Project is comprised of Mark Regula (vocals, keyboards, guitar), Tony Novarro (guitars, back vocals), and Fernando Menendez (drums). ITP is dedicated to presenting the styles of the 70s, and 80s, and the good part is, they're not a covers band!
The arrangements on "Red Hot" are reminiscent of INXS, Tears for Fears, and The Cure. The songs have the right sound for all fans of the great music of the 80s, and in fact, I found myself singing along to, "My Name" almost immediately, as it is a very catchy song. The big Phil Collins drum sound is on the money with the big tom toms on “Guilty,” as are the electric guitars, and the synth doubling with electric grand piano (Toto), as well as the synthesizer bass. Mark Regula gets a sound that reminds me of Tears for Fears.
The sax is a nice surprise on, “You Can See it In My Eyes”, and the synth strings blend well with the bell tone electric Rhodes piano. A female vocalist adds a nice touch to “Can’t Tell Him (Her),” along with some nice acoustic guitar, and hand percussion sounds. There is no set in stone formula that ITP follows; they make use of the wide range of colors and styles to create songs that embody the best elements of the the 70s and 80s, and they do it very well. There’s nothing wrong with looking back, it reminds us how far we've come (or regressed), and how much the music industry has lost. Ivory Tower Project should be recognized for honoring the past by creative reflection, and not just imitation. This is a great work by a great band, and it's refreshing. I'd really like to hear their next album.

I bought it, and I love it!
The answer to that is to skip what record labels are pushing and to look online at artists that are defying the norm and putting out music to suit the tastes of the general population by self recording their music. Ivory Tower Project's ‘Red Hot’ is just the kind of music that suits my tastes, having grown up in the era of rock and roll. This CD blends the best of rock and roll from the late 70's to the early 80's. The lyrics of “My Name” are haunting and Mark Regula does an excellent job of singing with much emotion to bring out the best of this song and many others on the CD. He is able to quickly raise and lower the pitch of his voice showing what a talented singer he truly is. John Jace and Mark Regula's ability to write catchy lyrics is well represented in the first three songs on the CD. Mark Regula's ability to write lyrics on his own is well shown in the fourth song. The first four songs on the CD blew me away and are the best ones on the CD. However, the other lyricists, musicians and singers in ‘Red Hot’ also keep you interested. It is hard to like every song on a CD, but Tony Novarro's outstanding guitar playing makes sure you stay interested in the music and gives it a sound that many would call melodic rock.

Ivory Tower Project, "Red Hot"
I first was introduced to Ivory Tower Project on Twitter last fall. Their style of music is one of my favorites. I grew up listening to the synth rock, hair metal and alternative styles in the 80s, and Ivory Tower Project is able to perfectly blend those styles into a great melting pot and come up with an album like "Red Hot" that hits it all. Featuring Mark Regula on vocals, keyboards and guitars; Tony Nevarro on guitars and backing vocals; and Mike Carbone on drums, this is a group that knows how to rock, and rock hard! You have songs like "My Name" and "Burning" that bring to mind Foreigner and Loverboy with the rock anthem quality vocals and lyrics and the great range of keyboards and synths. Hard-driving guitar work punctuates "Guilty" and "Dreamer" gets your feet moving. Remember lighter-worthy ballads? "You Can See it in My Eyes" is just that. It's easy to picture an arena full of flickering flames. I guess today it would be glowsticks, but the message is still the same. Love songs never go out of style and "Red Hot" is filled with them. "I Think I Fell in Love With You" and "Gotcha" are it. If you enjoy the fantastic music of the 70s and 80s, this is for you. So, do yourself a favor and listen. The 80s are calling you, and they've got your number!
