Album Notes
Jack Anthony

There has been an alarming amount of controversy about Jack Anthony! Primarily because he has had the audacity to claim that he is not only a musician, but that he is the embodiment of the band that is known as Jack Anthony. I suppose that's a bit confusing...

Basically, one day in early January of the year 2003 Jack decided to go make a solo CD. He intended to play all the instruments on the album, but then came to the conclusion that his percussion skill was virtually non-existent, and he enlisted the aid of childhood friend Seth Barnes, who agreed to provide the drums on the 14 track album which later became known as "Disaster". While they were both thrilled with what they had created, they were also very lazy and otherwise consumed with their apathetic southern California lives, working at coffee shops and the like. Until one day, when the room-mate of Jack's then-girlfriend asked Jack if his band would like to play at an on campus Oktoberfest. Of course, he had no band. But how was she to know this? She had heard the album in all its rocking glory and naturally assumed that he DID in fact have a band, and then offered him the chance to open for a band called Homegrown, AND to be compensated in the currency of the gods (beer). And even though the event was only two weeks away, Jack instantly agreed (of course), and then began the process of putting together a band.

Since then the band has underwent many different lineup changes, including the gaining and quickly losing an amazing talent by the name of Ruben "Robs" Reitor who not only relieved Seth of his drum duties (so he could focus on the git-fiddle), but also created a music video for the group. Unfortunately Ruben was not a U.S. citizen, and eventually was exiled back to Venezuela...and Jack's heart was broken.
However, Ruben was kind enough to lay down the drum tracks for what came to be known as the "Untitled EP", which contains four majestic tracks, including the locally famous "Averill Park", which is named after a park in the band's collective hometown of San Pedro, CA. Averill Park caught the ears of the good people at Cingular wireless, and now is available for purchase as a ringtone.

After the loss of Ruben, the band was determined to carry on. After all, Ruben would have wanted it that way. The next man to claim the Jack Anthony drum throne was a man by the name of Mike Crisis. Another San Pedro native who until jamming with, the band believed was only a myth. But Mike quickly proved that not only was he real, but he was also an earth shaking drummer with awe-inspiring precision. Mike once translated the entire dictionary into Morse code using only his wit and his snare drum in just under three minutes*. He also holds the record for most MTV reality show appearances.*

In February of 2006, the band was chosen to be exploited by the folks at MTV with a brand new reality pilot called "Garage Band Makeover", which unfortunately (and fortunately in some respects) never made it to air. However the band was blessed with thousands of dollars of expensive equipment that they were certainly not capable of using nor entitled to.

Currently (2006), the band consists of Jack Anthony, Seth Barnes, Ryan Lai, and Mike Crisis.

So who is Jack Anthony? Some believe Jack Anthony is an entity, one that was spawned out of the passion for music and the philosophy that music and melody should be forever bonded in marriage. Others believe he is just a sunburned geek with a giant "N" painted on his chest in the film "The Benchwarmers". And then of course there are those that believe he was the best goddamn jungle cruise skipper to ever navigate the treacherous green waters at Disneyland...and the reality is that all of the above are true, but more importantly, Jack Anthony is the best goddamn band on PLANET EARTH.
