Album Notes
Local folk singer, songwriter and musician Jack Carey's new debut single 'The Emigrants Story' has been receiving hugely positive reviews, both from people in the industry and from Irish people at home and abroad. Originally from Gowran, Kilkenny but now living in his adopted Carlow, Jack would be well known throughout the country as a hurl maker and blacksmith. Although interested in sport and hurling from a young age, music and singing always took up a lot of Jack’s time and energy.

Jack recorded the song in 'The Cauldron Studios' Dublin with award winning producer Bill Shanley. Bill is well known for his work with artists such as Sinead O'Connor, Mary Black & Christy Moore, he is also side man and guitarist to Ray Davies of 'The Kinks'

"I've been singing and playing for years but have only began to take it more seriously recently. Working with Bill and the lad's in the studio has been a huge learning experience, one I have thoroughly enjoyed. When Paul and Ciaran first approached me with the ballad, I instantly felt a strong connection with the lyrics and melody, I knew I had to record it." said Jack.

Although only released a few short weeks ago, Jacks debut single 'The Emigrants Story' has been getting extensive radio play throughout Ireland and further afield. As Jack says "I'm delighted with the response 'The Emigrants Story' has been receiving so far. I got a call only yesterday from a friend telling me he was listening to it on the radio as he was driving to work in Boston. It's lovely when you hear things like that, to see it being received so well by people is great" He added "I suppose a lot of people can identify with the song because it's a song for the times we are living through, a ballad for modern Ireland, an anthem of sorts. It captures a lot of the emotions people have been going through in recent years. There's a lot of pain and sadness out there, people feel angry and let down by those in power. But there is a lot of hope out there too, as a nation we are a tremendously proud, strong and resourceful people. That hope and strength is reflected in the song. We have been through tough times before, and we will get through them again"

The past few weeks have been busy for Jack, following the success of his debut single, he has been busy doing radio interviews and performing the song. He has also been busy putting pen to paper writing for his debut album, an album full of original songs wrote by Jack himself. "I suppose my style would be best described as Folk, I would have grown up surrounded by folk singers so a lot of that would have rubbed off on me. Hopefully people will like what they hear on the new album, it's something I've always wanted to do." Jack added "I'd like to thank everyone for their recent good wishes and support, it's been very encouraging and very much appreciated. It really means a lot "
