Album Notes
Born on the Corpus Christi Bay with roots in the deserts of West Texas and the Piney Woods of East Texas, Jack Nelson is an up-and-coming Texas Country artist to keep an eye on. Growing up as a rancher and a teacher’s son really connects him to the working class of America.

A proud Navy veteran of four and a half years, Nelson has seen the world and already faced a roller coaster of emotions that life can throw your way. “That's what Country music is all about!” says Nelson. He can relate to falling in and out of love with the best of them, and you can feel it in the lyrics that his unique-sounding voice projects.

He's a God-fearing, single, working dad with big dreams and aspirations.

Nelson was handed his first guitar at the age of four years old and has been making music ever since. Whether it was playing alongside his father during practices for his father’s tejano band as a child, along side his brother (2014 TMA Male Vocalist of the year award winner, and Texas Music Chart Topper Cameran Nelson), or playing music festivals in his hard rock band in high school, Nelson has always appreciated all types of music, and his history has made him a very diverse musician.

Nelson took a break from his life and music in order to serve our country by joining the United States Navy, and after four and a half years, he decided it was time to return home, go to college, and start making music again. Nelson began playing one man acoustic shows in the local area, and he has been able to spend a considerable amount of time in the top spot of the local reverb country charts. However, feeling compelled to perform on a larger platform, Nelson has carefully assembled a group of local musicians in an effort to bring his brand of Texas Country to the scene, and he has already supported/opened for artists such as Bart Crow, Jason Cassidy, Josh Ward, Jody Booth, Scooter Brown Band, Cody Cooke and The Bayou Outlaws, Pushwater, and many more.

The Jack Nelson Band Began when Jack Nelson invited his College friend, Garrett Michael Laird, to play Bass Guitar with him. Laird was born in Austin, TX and raised in Leander, TX and grew up around the Austin Music Scene, which gives him a very diverse musical background. Laird was introduced to music at an early age, playing the trombone and euphonium throughout grade school and is now a prominent member of the Sam Houston State University School of music and engages in multiple extracurricular music related clubs and organizations, as well as, has goals of sharing the gift of music with the world by becoming a band director on the high school level. Once Laird began making music alongside Nelson they soon realized they needed a drummer to add to the experience. Nelson interviewed and used multiple drummers for a temporary amount of time but nothing seemed to fit just right. That’s when Laird reached out to a friend of his in the school of music community. John Paddie answered the call.

Coming from The Woodlands, TX, John Paddie is a highly regarded individual within the Sam Houston State University School of Music. John Paddie is also aspiring to mold young minds in the field of music. He too is involved in multiple music outlets within the SHSU music community and has already begun his career in helping out with drumlins at nearby High Schools. From the first rehearsal with The Jack Nelson Band it was an instant fit and the guys knew they were making their way toward something special.

The Jack Nelson Band now knew that they needed someone with that distinct country sound to complete the band with a taste of roots country and a tasteful touch of rock and blues. The band had a good friend that they knew played some electric guitar, but had never heard him play to his full potential. The band gave Dallas Briles from College Station, TX a call and it was one of the best decisions they could have made. He is a perfect fit, not only musically, but in the personality aspect as well. He is a great asset to the entire group dynamic!

The Jack Nelson Band knows that being a band is more than just being good musicians, it also takes a strong bond between each other in order to be successful, and they have just that and more. The Jack Nelson Band is a small but tight brotherhood, consisting of individuals with common interests, goals, and aspirations. They know that together they are band that can appeal and relate to anyone and can guarantee you a good time.
