Jacob Westfall is a 21-year-old singer-songwriter based in Portland, Oregon with a sincere appreciation for the craft. Soulful vocals and songwriting chops help the artist in his endeavors.
Jacob was born in Nashville and is the youngest of five Westfall children, having one older brother and three older sisters. At age seven he wanted to play guitar, but his hands weren't quite big enough to fit around the rosewood fretboard of his dad's Washburn guitar; however, at age nine, he wrote his first song, and the muse never stopped speaking to him. Over the years he taught himself how to play the guitar as well as bass and drums.
After graduating from University High School, Jacob moved to Portland, Oregon where he attended Mt. Hood Community College. There he participated in the 45th and final year of the Genesis Jazz Choir, directed by Dave Barduhn. Through the jazz program, he met producer Bob Stark (Esperanza Spalding, Decemberists, The Shins) and began a friendship that would eventually help Jacob jump-start his career. Through Stark, he was introduced to Ryan Yerdon (Puddle of Mudd, Weezer) and Steve Sundholm (One Republic, Kenny Rogers, Carrie Underwood). Together, they formed SYS productions which helped to mentor Jacob into the artist he is now.
Jacob is working to be on the road very soon, but won't forget his roots in Portland. Currently you can find him paying his dues, playing shows in the city and its suburbs, so keep an eye out. Jacob is a dreamer, but he works towards his goals, and hopes to one day sell out Madison Square Garden.
