Mitrata Children’s Home, a refuge for the children of Nepal and meeting place for lovers of social change through education, peace, art and music, brought Raman Maharjan and Jacomina Kistemaker together in their desire to share their sounds and love for nature and beauty in benefit concerts for Mitrata, since 2011 till now, in the Vajra Hotel in Kathmandu. The natural flow of their music only has deepened through the years, resulting in this CD of silence, love and peace for all living beings.

Raman Maharjan, music-teacher in Mitrata, is known in Nepal for the beauty of the sounds that flow from his flutes in the Rudra Band, in the concerts of Ani Choyng Drolma and in his collaboration with many other groups. He has kept alive the sacred connection with nature that awoke his love for music. In ’14 he opened the Music House in Kirtipur, a breeding place for Nepalese music students and a laboratory where musicians from around the globe meet to play, share and explore together.

Jacomina Kistemaker, a Dutch psychologist and sound therapist, merges the Western mind-set with the wonders of Eastern sound. Listening and feeling into the infinite richness of the sounds of each and every one of her instruments, the Tibetan singing bowls and the gongs, she expresses their essence through her voice. Naked sounds in all their beauty and power. In 1997 she created her own Centro Punta de Couso, for sound, and personal and spiritual growth on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean in Galicia, Spain.

Playing together, Jacomina Kistemaker and Raman Maharjan walk the path towards peace, silence and joy. Their music expresses the beauty of “simplicity”, touching the essence of being and the purity of sacred sound, on a deeper level, beyond music.
