Album Notes
Singer/ songwriter Jacqui Sharkey’s voice was first heard only recently when she released her first album, ‘A New Dawn’… an album which has received critical acclaim in Ireland and as far away as the United States, Argentina and Australia since its independent release in 2011. ‘A New Dawn’, a 13 track album which is a mix of original songs and covers, has been described as a blend of Americana, Folk and New Country, with a hint of Jazz/pop in Jacqui’s self-composed songs.

Jacqui is based in Gweedore in the heart of the West Donegal Gaeltacht, and she continues to attract attention, both in Ireland and abroad. Her second album is due for release in November 2013.

"Jacqui Sharkey's warm and tender voice brings me straight to one of my favourite places...Donegal. Whether she applies it to Folk, New Country or Jazz, the spirit of her home place comes through the gorgeous sound she makes. "

Paul Brady, RecordingArtist/Songwriter

"She's as good as it gets. She's as good as the best…” Gerry Anderson, BBC Radio Ulster "

"This lady has a voice in a million. Her lower register is heart melting. Jacqui doesn't sing a song. She lives it. You don't just listen to her words. You live them with her..."

Billy Patterson (Irish folk group, the Pattersons)

"She's got an absolutely cracking voice...this new album is quite a sensational offering. I think she's a lady to be reckoned with....I told you, she is a touch of magic..." Brian Clough, The American Connection

"Sharkey tackles Randy Goodrum’s unconditional love song, ‘You Needed Me’ from 1978, a much-loved track from her childhood days when raiding her parent’s record collection. It was a #1 hit for Anne Murray in America and gave Irish boy band Boyzone a chart topper in the UK in May 1999. Jacqui’s voice has an uncanny resemblance to the aforementioned Canadian songstress and her lower-register is equally delicious..."
