Album Notes
What do you say about a kid who composed some of the gems on this album when he was eight years old?
"He's HOW old?" That's the line that people invariably use when they hear his music. When Jahan mixes his original compositions with well-known classical pieces in live performances, people believe that he is just playing lesser known pieces from Chopin or Mozart. They do a double take when they realize that these are the sonic channellings of a kid who has been on the planet for all of ten years. The classical textures, the haunting melodies, the expressive verve, the thunderous bravura of these compositions - not to mention their sheer variety and inventive range - leave you thinking that they could only have come from some established name in the top tier of composers. To think that they came from a kid of ten leaves one believing in past lives.

Jahan Disclaimer: The composer wishes everyone to know that while he is 100% responsible for this music, the titles are another matter. "My dad came up with them," he says. "I have a hard time with them. If it were up to me, I would just call them 'Piano Piece number one, Piano Piece number two,'. My dad bought me one of those magnetic poetry word kits and encouraged me to come up with my own names. But it didn't work because I kept finding random things like 'Egg Scream' that hardly ever suited my pieces. So I just said to my dad, 'you do it.'"
