Album Notes
“I've listened to the new CD about twenty times now! In the past I've wanted to listen to something other than the typical spiritual music, but don't like a lot of the lyrics and messages in the songs on the radio. This is perfect!"  ~Xavier

This is not the first time, we've met on this Earth plane
Mother, brother, sister, lover, our Souls remain the same
Wearing a mask of darkness, wearing a mask of hate
Here's the mask of the sinner, I'll wear this one of the saint

At first I thought I'd been trampled upon
But now that I know the Truth, I can see that I was wrong
Cuz you were the angel, that helped me find my way
Back to my power, back to my Grace
Back to my greatness, back to my faith
You were the angel
I bow to you today

~From the song Angel's Footprints, Pure Divinity CD

This song represents a defining moment in my life when everything changed; occurring in a devastating and painful relationship.
A world that I had found to be cruel, unenlightened, hard and unfair suddenly shifted to Heaven on Earth. While I was still functional in my everyday life, so much had changed that people remarked that I looked ten years younger; all of the fear and pain I had been in suddenly disappeared and I was happy and free in a way I never knew was possible before.
Several years later I wrote a book called Living Beyond Belief; How to Ditch the Life Your Mind Created and Start Living the Ones Your Soul Intended as a way to put on paper the experiences and insights that were coming to me. Soon after I began to facilitate twelve week classes where those who participated opened themselves up to a larger perspective and worked in the Living Beyond Belief energy, with great results.

The songs began to come to me in the same year as the book. Both were a result of a Master's Degree in Spiritual Psychology's second year project. I had no intention of actually singing, you know, out loud in front of anyone, I only wanted to 'heal my relationship with my voice'. The person that I ended up having a healing session with was Edwin Coppard from "Real People Music", and told me I could in fact sing if I wanted to, and I continued my study with him at a few of his singer/ songwriter workshops, as well as a few one on one session. The music started to flow through, and from there it was only a matter of starting to learn some of the songs on guitar before I was sharing music in several venues, including an ongoing creativity and meditation circle in a Federal Prison, and at Findhorn in Scotland and at an evening program called Alternatives at St. James in London.

When I sing in person with my guitar the songs sound more 'bare boned' and simple. This album was produced by David Neal in the Los Angeles area and we recorded in Swan Sound Music studio with Brad Swanson. David brought so much to the songs, including his own guitar playing wizardry, his many talented friends, including awesome background singers. I had intended for it to be a really simple sound, but at the end of the day it ended up being the 'full meal deal' so to speak. After I was able to let go and surrender to the new sound (and it took a while for me to!) I find it is great to listen to in the car, or when working out. Besides David and Brad, I especially want to thank Reirani Tamura who did background vocals on most of the songs and who adds a beautiful touch. Since the CD took about nine years, with many starts and stops along the way, I often thought it was Reirani we were waiting for, since her contribution came nearer to the end of the recording part. I am so grateful for all who contributed to these tracks, to all of the love, sweat, and even tears that went into it, and to the space from where the songs originate. May they bless and inspire you on your Earth Walk.

Thank You for Listening- and Reading!

I had the fortune of meeting Jaia here in La Paz, Bolivia where i got to listen to Pure Divinity. I run a vegetarian-vegan restaurant and we immediately put the cd in the playlist and wow! Set aside the 'pop' icing which helps us get into any kind of music more easily and you have a pure soul healing with words/feeling/melodies and positive energy. It is most certain a nice break from your typical spiritual music out there and everyone is welcome to participate with Jaia on this Pure Divinity. 'Walk Through This Door', 'Angel's Footprints' and '10,000 Angels' are my favourites - keep on spreading the love Jaia, thank you and Namaste :)
