Album Notes
Jaime Ramirez is a San Antonio based pianist/composer & Music Director who has worked in theatre for over 20 years. Throughout his career, he has composed six full-length musicals, directed pit orchestras & played live accompaniment for hundreds of productions, ranging from children's theatre to burlesque. Additionally, Ramirez is a seasoned "on call" musician, localizing his work to numerous bands throughout his hometown and surrounding areas.

Although he attended school for classical piano, Ramirez has a diverse musical skill set due to his work as a jazz musician and member of the Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey Circus band. The combination of these three genres have helped to guide him in finding his "musical voice". Listeners can expect to find the influences of these unique experiences throughout the album, especially on the oldest track on the album "morningEvening", which he wrote while living on the circus train.

This album is a compilation of some of his favorite pieces from the last 10 years of his theatrical world. The majority of the tunes were originally intended as background music or “underscore” from various shows. Some such as “Juggler Man” were used as simple scene change music, while others such as “Blackout” provided the soundscape for a short film. Then there’s “I Could” which was not written for any show, simply a tune that needed to come out during an important time one year. The remaining songs are from an upcoming full-length, fully orchestrated concept album titled “Mr. Winnebago & Friends” On “underscored” these tunes are are presented here in stripped down acoustic versions.

The individual pieces that make up this collection have little tying them together aside from all having previously been a decoration for something else. They are deserving of their own platform which they finally have in the form of this collection - here they are, center stage and uninterrupted.
