Album Notes
"Armed with an exquisite sound, a natural sense of melodic line, and some serious composing chops, Jaka Kopach is a new force to be reckoned with in the world of the alto saxophone." (Will Vinson)

Jaka Kopach - alto saxophone
Vicente Archer - double-bass
Willie Jones III - drums
Orrin Evans - piano
Nina Strnad - vocals on "Twin Brothers"

After a couple of years' break, Jaka Kopach took his new musical material to New York City in 2015 and, in the company of some of the most acclaimed jazz club musicians, shot the album Present Thoughts, which was released in spring 2016 by the Austrian record company Barnette Records and announced with the composition Thunder. The pianist Orrin Evans, the double-bass player Vicente Archer, the drummer Willie Jones III and Jaka Kopach intertwined seven compositions with a cover of Say it (Over and Over Again) by Jimmy McHugh and Frank Loesser, proving that they are versed in traditional jazz interpretation as well as in more modern forms that are based on improvisation. The album production was done by Dave Stoller and Mike Marciano, the latter a two-time Grammy Award winning audio engineer.
