Album Notes
This album "A New Old Christmas" is the first Christmas Holiday music album from James Gilbert. It follows somewhat in the tradition of his previous six albums and several singles he has released. Rather than focusing on one single style of music on the album, the tracks consist of a variety of styles. Several of the titles are new arrangements of familiar carols in a traditional, orchestral setting. Listen to samples of "What Child Is This?" for an example of the orchestral titles. (A favorite among many adults). Looking for something a lot more upbeat and "new"? Take a listen to "Jingle Bells." It's not quite a full-blown EDM (electronic dance music) arrangement, but it is very contemporary. Teenagers and children tell me it's their favorite. There are also some distinctly 'electronic' sounding settings. "Away In A Manger" is the most 'out there' of the electronic pieces.

Perhaps the most interesting title is "We Wish You A Merry Christmas." All the sounds you hear were created from individual recordings of a certain phrase (of which, only part was mentioned in the brief album description). A more detailed explanation is included on the album. You'll be amazed at what can be done with a simple phrase to make it sound like music.
