Album Notes
The James Israel Band plays home grown rock'n'roll, with "alterna-psycho-bluesy-funky-country" twists. Easy to dance to, their music also intrigues listeners with intelligent lyrics and sophisticated arrangements.

James Israel has been writing and performing songs for 35 years. A singer-songwriter whose influences include the Grateful Dead, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Tom Petty and other rockers of that ilk, James’ songs vary in style and pack an emotional punch. His CDs have received airplay at various independent radio stations in Northern California and many online stations. Australia music journalist Melanie Vilnius called his songwriting a combination of Santana, Tom Waits and Dire Straits, and noted, “Heaven to the ears, music for the soul, this talent has no boundaries.”

The band boasts a rising star of a drummer, Bryan Louton. Bryan started young at age 17, and has been studying and working on his craft in an intense way ever since. Now 35, he’s back in Sacramento where he started out, after gigging regularly for 10 years with several bands in Chico. He’s been a crowd favorite wherever he plays.

Keyboardist Carrie McNabb has been letting loose with great blues and rock piano riffs for over 30 years, playing with many fine bands in the Bay Area. A recent transplant to Sacramento, she’s already been attracting a lot of attention there.

Anchoring the band on bass is Burbank California’s Jaco Moe, who has accumulated 30 years of playing music professionally. He has been with many Sacramento bands through the years, including The Blue Flames, The Bogheads, Rant and Reel, The Camellia Symphony, The Legionaires, Shinola and Blues Farm. Music is an escape from everyday life that Jaco-Mo thrives on and for which he has a passion.

Guitarist Sue Kasper adds a lot of drive and energy and completes a very unusual and talented pair of female lead players. She can lay down a tasty Mark Knoplfer-esque riff but loves to rock out too. Between them, the ladies have been known to weave tantalizing tapestries of sound during the occasional extended jams the band likes to indulge in.

Tom Durr has not played with the band live, but laid down some exquisite lead guitar tracks on this album. He is a songwriter and drummer as well, and has released several CDs of his own.
