ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
About the Jameson Singers First Season:

The first rehearsals of The Jameson Singers began mid-November of 2010, a few months after my retirement as Director of Choral Activities at Harvard University. For 32 years I was blessed with the great good fortune of working with the most remarkable students: the singers of the Harvard Glee Club, Radcliffe Choral Society, and the HR Collegium Musicum.

We worked hard on developing good choral ensemble: unifying pitch, duration, timbre, intensity, as well as the expressive elements. Over time, through our singers’ unique energy, discipline, and musicality, these elements began to communicate and to inspire. The formation of The Jameson Singers gives us a chance to do it again! With this in mind, how could I possibly consider not continuing to wave my arms?

Thus, it is with pride and enthusiasm that we present our first concert this afternoon, to you, our first audience. The concert repertoire is typical of many that I offered at Harvard as well as on some 32 spring and 18 international tours. This is repertoire we all like, a variety of sacred and secular works drawn from our familiar havens: a cappella choral music of the Renaissance, Romantic, and Recent.

Thank you for your interest, and enjoy the music!

Warmly,
Jameson Marvin
