"An excercise in inventive artistry...riveting, incisive lyrics...Green is a soulful vocalist who sells every word she sings..."
--Music Connection

People who have purchased Jamie's debut say they can listen to it over and over and not get sick of it, probably because it is diverse, but with a common thread of Jamie's soothing vocals, strong melodies, and unique harmonies. It's an eclectic record, mostly acoustic with light electric components, loops, live drums, warm vintage keys. The songs span the genres of alterna-pop, folk-pop, pop-country and pop-rock, with Jamie's overall funk & soul influences infusing her vocal stylings.

Jamie writes from the perspective of a woman who is both strong and vulnerable, confident and neurotic, still trying to figure this whole life-thing out. Her lyrics cover the topics of relationships, spirituality, sexuality and politics. While addressing a reluctant potential lover in "We're Alone," she admits to having been "left with luggage" too, but asks him to "please pretend that I'm not your mother or your ex-girlfriend." In the confessional title track, she admits that not giving love, life, or faith a chance, she has committed the ultimate crime: "Have I spent well the time? Well I'm not so sure, and that's my crime." In "Sisyphus" and "Malcolm X," she pays homage to those who have fought hard for a more just world. "Still Burn" delights in the lighter side of lost love while "Won't Regret" is a candid portrait of a woman refusing to regret a dangerous love. "I Know a Sister" explores the emotional and physical consequences of such a love and the spiritual antidote.

"Malcolm X" has received radioplay on acoustic-format stations all around the world. Several other songs on the record have won songwriting honors in various International Song Contests, including the John Lennon Songwriting Contest.

If you enjoy any of the following artists to whom Jamie has been compared, you will be glad to add "My Crime" to your record collection: Alana Davis, Shawn Colvin, Tori Amos, Fiona Apple, Sheryl Crow, Alanis Morissette, Paula Cole, Tracy Chapman, Carol King, Melissa Etheridge, Mazzy Star, Dido, Jewel...
