Album Notes
"Grace of a Woman" is Jamie Marich's most ambitious recording project to date. Continuing her commitment to crossing the boundaries of genre and emphasizing the character of acoustic music, "Grace of a Woman" enlists the help of numerous collaborators to bring her vision about the healing journey into musical reality. Recorded in her hometown of Youngtown, OH alongside her longtime performing partner Jim Stafford and engineer Todd Maki, the songs on "Grace of a Woman" represent Jamie's journey to attain this quality. From the raw soul of "Burly Man Blues" to the anthem of the title track to twists on country stylings in "At Arms Length" and "You'll Have That," to the album's creative tributes to other artists (Stephen Schwartz's "Defying Gravity" is covered on the CD, in addition to Jamie's musical composition of Emily Dickinson's "Will There Really Be a Morning?") there is something for everyone's musical tastes on "Grace of a Woman." Jamie even visits her Croatian roots (where she began making folk music) in two of the tracks, "Why Now?," a haunting folk tale about the Bosnian war, and "Speak But the Word," which contains an English-Croatian lyrical blend.
