Album Notes
JAM: Joanna and Michael is an energetic duo bringing new colors and textures to the low brass family. Performing on tuba, euphonium, and cimbasso, JAM programs all-inclusive music of historical and social significance, in a selection of styles from varying periods including new compositions and arrangements by the performers themselves. As soloists and chamber musicians, Joanna and Michael bring electronic elements to their performances, and showcase both the expressive lyricism and the more powerful sides of these instruments. Michael Parker is currently on the faculty at Marywood University and Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania, and has performed with groups across the country including the Washington National Opera, the Fairfax Symphony, and the Missouri Brass Consortium. Michael Parker is the founder of Parker Mouthpieces, producing mouthpieces for trombone, euphonium, French horn, and tuba, including the Hersey Artist Model for Tuba, designed with Joanna. Formerly Principal Tubist with the United States Coast Guard Band, Joanna has produced two solo albums, O quam mirabilis (2010) and Zigzags (2015), and is President of the International Women’s Brass Conference.
