Lemon Tree

by Jane McArthur

'Lemon Tree' is a dance-step into the territory of acoustic folk, blues and soul. Each song is its own musical statement, resulting in a beautifully crafted collage of textural and lyrical ideas. Think banjo, whiskey and summer afternoons in the backyard.

Album Notes
Best known as front-woman for Hobart/Melbourne based outfit Let The Cat Out, and now residing in the thick of it in Melbourne - Jane McArthur is emerging as one of Tasmania’s finest contemporary singer/songwriter exports. After releasing two full-length albums with Let The Cat Out, ‘Lemon Tree’ will be Jane’s debut solo release. Widely admired for her sweet, soulful vocals and riff-laden tunes, this solo project is a step sideways from the funk of Let The Cat Out, into the territory of acoustic folk, blues and soul. With each song treated as its own musical statement, the resulting album is a beautifully crafted collage of textural and lyrical ideas. The album consists of 10 songs, including one Tom Waits cover, and 9 of Jane’s songs both old and new, love songs, ballads and laments.
'Lemon Tree', has been produced by Luke Plumb (Shooglenifty, Funky String Band) and has been mixed and mastered by Stuart Hamilton at Castlesound Studios in Edinburgh.
