Album Notes
Janie Next Door® is also known as accordionist, singer, songwriter Jane Christison. Her newest musical venture is writing children’s songs and performing as Janie Next Door® in entertaining, live musical programs for children at preschools, elementary school concerts, festivals, libraries, birthday parties and other special occasions.

Her playful original songs engage children with tuneful bounce and irresistible rhythms while introducing a whole new generation to the joy of music using an instrument that kids don’t get to see very often – an accordion!

“Come Sing Along with Janie Next Door™” is her debut CD, and it received multiple awards:

• Creative Child Awards 2013 CD of the Year Award – Kids Sing and Dance CD’s category
• Family-Approved by the Dove Foundation
• Approved by Parents’ Choice
• Recipient of the prestigious Mom’s Choice Award
• Winner of a Tillywig Toy & Media Sterling Fun Award
• It was also reviewed by School Library Journal, March, 2013

When asked about the inspiration for her children’s songs, Jane says that she’s played over 1,000 performances for nursing homes and retirement communities. During the programs she reminisces about things like “Do you remember chasing fireflies on hot summer nights?” or “Do you remember going back to school in the fall?”

Jane’s not sure if it was a result of the reminiscing, but she started waking up with melodies running through her head which turned into writing songs – and she was so surprised that they were children’s songs!
She started including one or two of her children’s songs during performances at nursing homes. When the audiences seemed to enjoy them, Jane realized that her songs have multi-generational appeal - from the kiddos just having fun singing along and dancing to the music to the parents and grandparents being reminded of fond childhood memories!

Jane studied serious accordion literature with Joan Cochran Sommers at the University of Missouri - Kansas City Conservatory of Music and graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree in accordion performance.

She has been featured as a guest artist and workshop presenter at:

• The National Accordion Association, Inc. (NAA)
• The Accordionists and Teachers Guild, International (ATG)
• The American Accordionists’ Association (AAA)
• The Las Vegas International Accordion Convention
• Day Care Connection’s event, NUTS & BOLTS! “How-to” Tips to Build a Better Day Care

Jane is a member of:

• The American Federation of Musicians, Local #34-627
• Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity
• The Children’s Music Network
