Jann Klose’s current Studio EP BLACK BOX, has been called “by far the best unsigned record I have heard in a long time” by Kid Kelly of Sirius Satellite Radio. The CD has certainly been a key ingredient — along with an active desire to perform for people all over the globe — in building Jann's career.

The songs BLACK BOX and IT’S NOT THE WAY have been licensed to film (Warner Bros. DVD “Dead Broke”, starring Paul Sorvino, Jill Hennessy) and overseas radio markets (Prambors Hits 3, Indonesia). A live video of WALK THROUGH THE RIVER has received over 100.000 downloads in file-sharing networks online and been seen on “Swept Away TV” in 60 U.S. markets. In addition, the EP was a favorite at regional college and adult alternative radio.

A citizen of the world, Jann Klose has lived on three continents, making his home in the melting pot that is New York City. Before coming to the United States as an exchange student in Cleveland, Ohio, he lived in Germany, Kenya, and South Africa. As a singer and songwriter, his music reflects this lyrically, melodically, rhythmically and in his choice of eclectic instruments and musicians.

It also shows in the people who choose to work with him. During the course of his career, Jann has worked live or in the studio with artists ranging from Brett Dennen, Suzanne Vega, Rusted Root, Vonda Shepard, Rosanne Cash, Roger McGuinn, Renaissance and Annie Haslam, Jim (The Yardbirds) McCarty, Gary Lucas to the legendary Les Paul and plays an average of 75-100 shows per year.

The four song taste from this New York resident is an excellent precursor for a full length CD. With acoustic driven pop that is also quit edgy, Jann proves to be an excellent songwriter with pure talents on the six string. Add to this his robust but sweetly emotive voice with lyrics that emanate from his soul and the result is some very good music. The touching but intense ballad Fever In My Heart and snappy alt folk rock of Walk Through the River leave you hungry for more.

Best Independent Cd
I had the fortunate opportunity to interview this artist and review his cd for my column at my college publication. This is not only one of the best albums I have ever heard in my career as a music journalist, but it also embodies, heart, emotion, and inspiration there is not a bad track on this album. I love every song on the album because Klose brings something new to the table every song. My personal favorites are Black Box and Walk through the river. I can't believe this artist is still unsigned. The most powerful element to the album though is Klose himself. His Voice is melodic and mesmerizing and his energy captivating. I would definately recommend this cd to anyone who appreciates real musicianship.

EP Release Brings Artist Further From Primordial Riffs And Closer To An Expans
The midget wind chilled out and descended to scene one, of an all-time low act. Lonley drivers of Barrettas skidded into Hondas outside on the gravel roads. I was glad to be home with my new disc on a night like that; happy to be alive in the modern world. The jazz-man on the silver box took a giant swing at his trusty axe, and it made me feel like mother natures son, Instead of father times red-haired step-child. Do angels in heaven play guitar? these are four cool tunes.

smart original sound
Jann's writing has an original sound and a clear personal style. His voice is powerful and the songs are beautiful, joyful and moving.

Influences from America to Africa ...
Jann Klose has a voice that's not easy to mix up with others. Perhaps it's because he's one of those rare singers who had to prove himself on stage (European tour of Jesus Christ Superstar, US national tour of Jekyll & Hyde, and in The Who's Tommy), and therefore knows how to project and use more tricks than the more garage-taught singers of the modern age. It all starts with range, of course. Jann has that going for him, being originally from Germany and so he's one up on the rest of us as far as learning how to construct words and get the most out of English.

One of the best songs here is the title track, 'Black Box,' which evokes the sexuality of George Michael with a crooner's method of rattling all the mileage out of whole notes that's possible. Acoustic in places, but most of the time this disc is an amalgamation of styles and influences from America to Africa. A good teaser.
