About the CD

Deep Space

Deep Space is an unconstrained and inspiring collage of cosmic moods that wash and flow over, around and through you as you journey to the far reaches of liquid space and time. On this album there are two tracks.

The first one Starlite is pure abstract... letting go... and letting go... into the oneness... the constancy of life... and feeling yourself expand and grow... coming home yet disappearing all at the same time (Starlite is the '2000 Dolphin Award' winning track).

The second track Celestial Ocean captures the ebb and flow, the coming and the going; rising, unfolding, only to disappear again... a momentary wave amidst a sea of being... rising up from the deep waters of our soul... Above or below... within or without... learning the ways of the Path and how to travel still remain a primary training focus for the adept.

Being 'out there' and to be able to see from the highest and deepest is so valuable, as is being able to move through the cycles of space and time and rebecoming... Deep Space is the final album in the New Age series and represents the end of the journey as we can know it from here... just being in the peace and an awareness of the path... completely free yet with the power to choose to be or not to be. ...for now we can but practice and focus.

REVIEWS...

NEXUS magazine
Japetus has been a leading ambient and New Age musician in Australia since the 1980s. Over the last year he has been remastering all his earlier works. Deep Space is a collage of cosmic moods that wash through you, taking the soul on a trip through the universal mind. The CD is divided into to lengthy tracks: 'Starlite' - winner of a 2000 Dolphin Music Award and 'Celestial Ocean' which ebbs and flows into the soul. Deep Space is a broad sweep, taking you on an extra-human journey, not unlike Kubrick's 2001. Very powerful and profound music.

JAPETUS BIOGRAPHY...

Vibratory worlds
"I was born in Sydney and taught my self to play a variety of instruments including drums, guitar and keyboards, as well as singing and composing. I combined these skills into audio/visual production and worked for several years as an audio/visual producer. To assist in my desire to be a recording artist, in 1980 I set up my own recording studio and began creating songs and experimenting with sound.

Spiritual paths
Along the way, I stumble upon the practice of meditation, gathered information on various spiritual paths and gradually came to understand the importance of a higher more universal awareness. As this new perspective of life grew within me so, correspondingly, my interest in traditional pop music began to diminish, and I found myself working in a more instrumental vein.

Framework
Since 1983 I have composed 13 inspirational albums (plus two compilations) and released them through my own record label. These titles are an evocative and colourful collection which present a musical framework for exploring the vibratory worlds of imagination and sound for the purpose of self discovery, meditation and healing.

Synthesis
Although I have focused on music, as a synthesist in the broader sense, my talents manifest across a wide range of mediums including video, cooking, writing and graphic design. To support one of my best-loved albums, Visions Of Paradise, I filmed and produced a video of magnificent natural vistas, rivers and sunsets, creating an audio visual healing experience. This has wide applications in most therapeutic areas as well as in the home and workplace.

Live
In 1988, I performed as part of the Earthlink 88 tour and have since made public appearances at various centers around Sydney, such as The Opera House boardwalk and Darling Harbour. I have also performed as a musical support for healing workshops and conferences on metaphysics.

Commissions
In 1985, Nevill Drury asked me to produce a series of three albums of inner space music to accompany his book for release in Germany. Over recent years, I have worked with Denise Linn (USA) and Jo Buchannan (Aust) on guided visualisation tapes, produced a soundtrack for a movie 'Into The Light', recorded and produced a series of Tibetan Buddhist practice tapes, and supplied music exclusively for the National Federation of Healers Inc (Australia) guided visualisation tape. In 1996, I was commissioned to create the title theme and incidental music for the TV series 'Yin, Yang and You' already shown to over 60 million viewers on NBC Asia as well as The Middle East, America and South Africa. The show has since been sold around the world.

Conclusion
Life is not a monotone. Life is full of colours and sounds and symbols of all different vibrations. Our duty is to develop a focused consciousness and navigate our way back from the lowest to the highest. From manifestation, bridging back across to the all encompassing nothingness. In today's society it is easy to recognise the need for healing in any form, and these musical soundspaces and visualisations, the visionary artworks, the video and workshops, all offer a way of discovering a more subtle and wholistic sense of self."
