Musikalisch anregender Worldjazz aus Boston
Zwar gibt es in der über 100-jährigen Jazzgeschichte einige namhafte Violinisten (Stuff Smith, Joe Venuti, Stéphane Grappelli, Svend Asmussen, u.a.), doch gelten Streichinstrumente im Jazz noch bis heute eher als Exotica. Ob der junge Jason Anick dies ändern kann, wird sich weisen. Den Wunderkind-Bonus hat er jedenfalls zu recht und die Anerkennung in der Bostoner Jazzszene hat er bereits heute auf sicher. Im Quartett mit seinem Pianisten Jason Yeager und unter Beizug namhafter Gäste, darunter George Garzone (Tenorsax) und Jason Palmer (Trompete), präsentiert Anick einen temperamentvollen Worldjazz/Hardbop-Verschnitt mit erklärter Nähe zur Musik von John Coltrane und zum allzu jung verstorbenen polnischen Jazzviolinisten-Genius Zbigniew Seifert(1946-1979).
