ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This recording is an intercultural and transatlantic collaboration between masters, enthusiasts, and experts of universal music. It is a global conversation about music and art with European, African, and Caribbean inflections. The simplicity of this ensemble—piano and double bass—embodies a musical complexity that is more than just percussion and rhythm. Colina and Rivero create a jazz form that brings into contact and transforms its singular Puerto Rican, Cuban, and Spanish elements. The songs in this CD have everything: rhythm, harmony, melody, purity, originality, authenticity, and syncretism. In the tradition and example of El arte del sabor, of Bebo Valdés and Cachao, Colina and Rivero give us a work of art that is honest, full of verve, and heartfelt. Dig it!
