Album Notes
Blues/rock guitarist, Jay Jesse Johnson, is joined by Foghat lead singer, Charlie Huhn, on the latest release “I’VE GOT AN AX TO GRIND”. The new CD features 12 gritty songs with plenty of heavy guitar riffs, and solid performances. Each track is stamped with the authority of Johnson's signature sound, while vocalist Charlie Huhn delivers some classic, blues driving, rock & roll anthems. Drummer B J Zampa (House of Lords) once again brings on the thunder and also co-writes 2 songs on the new CD. On board the Hammond B-3, Matt Zeiner (Dicki Betts Band) is featured on several tracks, like the traditonal blues jam “Spell of Winter” and over the top guitar assault of “Demons”. Returning to the line up, bassist Ed Corvo lays down some big bad bass tracks and ex "Cryer" bassist Steve Shore drops in to lend his hand on the bottom end. This second solo CD by Jay Jesse Johnson gives creedance to the artistry of this seasoned guitarist as well as pushing the limits of the blues/ rock genre. Check out this collection of hard rockin, heavy blues and see what the buzz is all about. One listen and you’ll know, Jay Jesse Johnson really does have an ax to grind.

I've Got An Ax To Grind
Jay Jesse Johnson must have an asbestos guitar, because he's a f###ing fire hazard! Most of your 'big time' guitar slingers are not worthy to carry Mr. Johnson's pick. JJJ is faster & more dangerous than a runaway train loaded with nuclear warheads & headed straight for town, fluid like molten steel on an August afternoon & just plain tasty as a tootsie-roll you've saved in your pocket all day- this guy can really play, sing & write great tunes!
You know what? Words just can not describe what your ear will hear when you at last possess this CD for your very own. Do it now!

I've got an Axe to Grind
If you're into great songs, strong vocals and killer guitar - this is definitely for you! Jay shows his bluesier side on these tracks in contrast to the "Power Trio" tunes from the first. "Sittin by the Riverside" is my favorite! Don't settle for the MP3, the uncompressed CD version is a must hear - must own! I'm with Brad - CRANK IT UP!

I've Got an Axe to Grind
Great sound, great production. Nice to hear a changeup in vocals and styles. Some crazy, awesome guitar playing, good bass lines - lots of energy! Nice intros. Heavy, interesting, musical, fast moving Blue/Rock. I would recommend this album and/or his earlier release; well worth adding to the collection. If you don't feel the need to crank it up a bunch, check your ears or your stereo...
