ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Jay Snider is the real deal. He’s not just a cowboy at heart, he lives out all the positive traits of the cowboy life every day. He puts in a hard days’ work. He is a man of his word. He strives to be the best husband and father he can be. He is honest and his handshake would do just as well when he has to sign his signature. He is known and respected by his cowboy poet peers. He has written and recorded many original cowboy poems. His purpose is to keep alive the mystery and truths of the cowboy way. The cowboy, who spends so many nights sleeping under the canopy of the starlit sky, and sees the miracle of birth every time a calf is born, has a real understanding that there is a God who created and sustains everything. Cowboy Poetry doesn’t just portray the examples of the best cowboys. They also speak of and make examples of the cowboys who haven’t gotten it right yet. Those who might lose their temper, say the wrong thing at the wrong time, or are just a pain in the neck to all those who they come in contact with. Some of these poems are funny, some are sad, but they all exemplify the positive character traits of the cowboy way. You don’t have to wear a cowboy hat, ride a horse, or sleep under the stars all the time to enjoy Cowboy Poetry, just put the CD on and imagine yourself taken away to another place and another time. Forget the problems of the day and world politics for a few minutes and reconnect with your inner cowboy self. It will help you reaffirm what’s really important in life. Which is doing what you can do to make this world a better place. That’s the motivation for and the reason for these poems. Enjoy!
Craig Stuke is the person behind the scenes, playing guitar, keyboard, putting in special effects, mixing and mastering each poem, and getting it ready for you to enjoy. He has been making music all his life and that’s a long time. Craig started learning to play guitar at the age of eleven. He sang in bands through his high school years and continued to make music, singing and playing his guitar for a living into his mid-twenties. When his then six year old daughter invited him to attend Church on ‘parent day’, everything changed for Craig. He realized that playing secular music and chasing the dream that music in itself would satisfy him was a false reality. A year after that visit to Church (which included an encounter with God), Craig moved himself and his family to a Bible college in Wisconsin and in the course of the next five years worked his way through to a B.A. degree in music and Bible. Since then, he has served as music teacher / choir teacher in a K-12 school, youth pastor, music minister, pastor, evangelist, and presently is very happy serving as a Church worship leader. He has a recording studio in his home where he writes and records his own original music and helps others get their music recorded and published. He presently has eight other CD albums available on-line. Several of those projects are collaborations, just as “The Old Tried and True” is with Jay. Craig is a singer at heart, yet spent well over twenty years practicing piano two to four hours a day. Those hours practicing each day went by like just a few minutes. He was on a mission and continues to give God the glory for each note he is able to play. His life journey has brought many wonderful people into his life. Jay Snider is one of those people. It was such great fun to be inspired to write music for him on this project. We hope it will be enjoyed by many.
