Album Notes
JAZZ EAST is one of the Pittsburgh area's most entertaining Jazz ensembles whose CD debut is a sampling of several Jazz styles and covers three generations of Jazz Improvisation.

JAZZ EAST combines the very best of music styles like Jazz, Swing, Latin, Rock and much more. This band is definitely for those who like more than one kind of dressing on their musical salad. The members of JAZZ EAST are no strangers to the music scene. They have all been members of hard working and successful bands in the past, and are veterans at their craft.

JAZZ EAST is fresh out of the studio with the release of their first CD "The Springwater Incident," featuring the first two JAZZ EAST original songs. JAZZ EAST also recorded six great Jazz classics from artists like Miles Davis, Dave Brubeck, and Herbie Hancock. The JAZZ EAST repertoire includes other Jazz greats like Thelonious Monk, Buddy Rich, and much more.

JAZZ EAST promises an eye catching lighting and special effects package that is sure to keep patrons entertained. "Every energy filled show will provide a unique blend of visual and musical excitement!"

Quotes from Nationally Known Piano/Keyboardist Gale Belle: "I call myself the Jazz Pianoist, what makes me unique is that no one on God's green earth will play the piano like I play the piano. I've got all this craziness in my brain and it comes out through my hands on the keyboard."

"I am proud of my ability to fabricate my music as it comes to me. I compare my improvisational style to a kaleidoscope, you keep turning it and it keeps changing. That's the way I like to play. You never know what you're going to see and I never know what's really going to come out until it comes out."

Jazz East Continues Pittsburgh's Contribution to Jazz Innovation
Jazz history in Pittsburgh sets a high standard starting with Billy Strayhorn, Billy May, and Billy Eckstine through Art Blakey, Earl Hines, Lena Horne, and George Benson. Add Jazz East to the list! This group is innovative and original with homage to the roots of jazz. You have never heard a sound like this before, anywhere. In the tradition of Pittsburgh's contribution to Jazz music, Jazz East adds a new facet to Jazz that sounds like it should have been there all along.

Jazz East is impressive and entertaining live. Don't pass up an opportunity to see and hear them. Can it be? They sound even better in the studio! This, their first recording, reveals the scope of this group's talent at creating the genre as well as their respect for its tradition.

If you want to hear history in the making pick up Jazz East: The Springwater Incident, and remember -- they started in Pittsburgh.

Multi-faceted jazz with a progressive edge!
A very nice variety of some jazz standards with a modern twist and some nice original compositions. You get the sense from listening to the CD that these guys could play just about anything they wanted to. My musical taste is primarily rock/metal/progressive and this CD is fun to listen to as they shift gears through different sonic spectrums while still retaining the "jazz" element throughout. Highly recommended! I hope they record a followup disc!
