Album Notes
Music Radiation is a cocktail of a jazz quintet and electronic music.
After recording a session with the band Jazz House FX in Brussels (Axel Dumont on bass, Myles Simpson on drums, Mario Coppola on trumpet, Serge Lippens on keyboard and Ian Rigillo on guitar), I rearranged all the tracks and added drum loops and midi sounds with the aim of: "enriching the creativity of the musicians with the endless potential of electronic sounds".
Top producers Axel Dumont and Jason PIccioni, who produced 3 of the tracks, helped perfect the album.

Brief history of the songs:

Unity in Diversity - This was written for my wedding. When producer Jason Piccioni heard the original track, he suggested doing a remix for me because he liked the melody, but did not like other parts of the song. I accepted gingerly and was initially shocked at how he chopped off half of the melody and most of the solo section. By adding electronic drums, bass and his trademark strings and repeating a section of the guitar solo, over imposing it on the trumpet melody and creating a beautiful build up with the percussions, I understood he was onto something and decided to apply a similar method to my other tracks.

No.K. - 100% guitar song. I decided I wanted to explore all the potential of my midi guitar, Godin. Now there is an abundance of guitar tracks here, that causes my Mac to cry for more RAM every time I open the file. Divided into 4 sections, intro, melody, solo, ending, you will never cease to hear new instruments every time you listen to the song.
Dedicated to my beautiful wife who (barely) supports my noise.

Them Black Notes - This was written on a rainy day, while playing with the black notes of a piano. Featuring Norwegian singer Nina Pedersen, Them Black Notes is one of my only songs with lyrics in which I've used musical words, such as harmony, tones, keys to talk about every day life.

The Tyranny of Chords - During my musical studies in Brussels, I did some classes with a genius of a composer called Walter Hus, who snubbed jazz calling it the "tyranny of chords" because he was much more into free improvisation and hated all those rules cultivated in jazz circles of what scales can be played over what chords. As his music was quite busy (he called it Maximalist), I wanted to impress him by writing a complicated track for his quartet (guitar, piano, trumpet, flute) which I have here rearranged to bring in electronic sounds and cool samba rhythms.

Vorax - From the Italian word Vorace (ravenous) this song is about primordial human drives. I wanted to do a drum and bass track, it had to be 160 BPM. When producer and bass player Axel Dumont heard an arrangement of the track, he told me he wanted to produce it in his recoding studio and wanted me to come over to check a program he used called Logic. When I saw how he used Logic and how he rearranged Vorax to sound really modern, I decided I needed to work with Logic too.

Forsebandlucy - Written for Seb and Lucy's wedding (could you ever have guessed). Used some nu jazz samples to demolish the sweet trumpet melody, but then decided not to pursue that route by softening the groove and bringing in some percussions under the beautiful piano and trumpet solos.

Bassic Instinct - Dedicated to the masterpiece of erotic movies of the 90s, I wanted to highlight the sexyness of Sharon Stone's voice samples with a groovy bass line. Again featuring beautiful solos by Serge Lippens on keyboard and Mario Coppola on trumpet, highlighted by wild midi guitar accompaniments.

Big Karma - indian and irish samples blending with the melody to give an exotic groove to the track. Electronic drum samples on the initial and final melody, to be replaced by Myles Simpson's intense drumming at the point where it really counts.

Dub Uid - Dub remix of Unity in Diversity by Jason Piccioni. No guitar and piano here, just bass, trumpet, drum loops and his fantastic strings. Chill-out electronica at its best.

Them Black notes!!!!!!
There are two musicians from Gianax, the craziest band on Cd-baby, and that's why I listened. Them Black Notes is pure beauty and is worth alone the purchase, there are some pieces I don't like too much, but hell Them Black Notes is a gem.
