ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
(June 2003) Produced by Rick Salt (David Gogo, Jeffrey Sez), Jack Connolly's new disk contains 12 original songs and is already getting spins on Vancouver Island Radio - 100.3 the Q in Victoria, CHLY Radio Malaspina (Nanaimo), and 89.7 Sun FM (Duncan), which has had "Ride No Hands," "32x the Size of Life," "Red Limousine" in regular rotation. "We've worked hard over the past two years, playing and writing," says Connolly. "It's all been about making an album of great songs."

Jack is a busy performer who works solo and with a band of talented players. Check out his website for specifics.

Connolly has been described as an accomplished and energetic performer who is "emerging as a major player" on the west coast. As one newspaper said in June of 2002, "Connolly plays with compelling stage presence, accomplished guitar style, and a winning voice . . . "

The Empty Cafe was recorded with a 5-piece band including Billy Hicks (drums), Jim Bennett (bass), Nathan McKay (Keyboard) and Rick Salt (guitar). Jack describes his new sound as "roots/rock. The elements of folk music are preserved and the lyrics are strong, but Empty Cafe let's the roots rock and roll."

With Jack's talent, the Empty Cafe Will Be Crowded
The Empty Cafe CD has 12 kewl songs. I, personally, enjoy listening to the title track and LIVE ON A ROCK. ANGEL IN THE FLAMES is based on a real-life event. If you do not own a copy, then consider this CD before it sells out.

This CD features great original songs! MY favourites are Ride No Hands,Red Limousine,First Thing Smokin',Wasted on the Moon and Green Eyes. The vocals are fantastic,Jack Connolly has an expressive and very interesting singing style that is perfect for the songs he writes. The musicians backing him up and the production are also excellent!

Don't miss seeing Jack Connolly live!
I had the privilege of seeing Jack live 11/16/03 opening at the Queens Hotel in Nanaimo, BC. Oddly, the CD doesn't fully convey Jack's strong voice, nor does it give much hint to the infectious energy he brings to his music. That said, I recommend "The Empty Cafe" for a glimpse at Jack's fresh voice and intelligent lyrics.
