Hope Is a Virus

by J.C. Ratliff

J.C. Ratliff's debut comedy album is part no holds barred rant attack and part social commentary from a lovable asshole. You don't have to agree with him to be glad he said it, as this record ambitiously sets out to show us all we are the same...hopeless.

Album Notes
On August 15th 2014 J.C. Ratliff recorded a one take comedy album in Sassy Anne's in Knoxville Tennessee. It was the result of 3 years of work of conceptual comedy towards the idea that we obsess with hope instead of solve the simplest problems. The rest is just dirty fun. No topic is off limits, and given its a one take recording you can hear a comic who's clearly having fun with his job.

J.C. Ratliff is a comedian from Knoxville, TN who's social commentary is undeniable. His rants paint a man angry at injustice, intolerance, and stupidity. You may not agree with what he say's, but you'll be glad he said it. Hope Is a Virus shows J.C. as a lovable asshole who genuinely wants to increase the quality of life of those around him via comedy... plus there are dick jokes. And everyone loves those.

"I remember being a young comedian working in Chicago at Zanies and after each show I would run down to a club called The Funny Firm to watch Bill Hicks. Watching "Hope is a Virus" last night brought back that same excitement. J.C. Ratliff was brilliantly funny and original." - Kirk Noland
