ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
J.D. Hawk is a songwriter (from the Lehigh Valley area of Pennsylvania) who believes that music can do more than entertain. On this, his first CD, rich acoustic guitar work (accompanied by bass, piano, electric leads and occasional percussion) supports thoughtful lyrics that inspire us to look at life and love in a new and deeper way.

SONG NOTES:

1. BETTER LATE THAN NEVER
Dedicated to "late bloomers" everywhere!
This is a song about finding one's purpose
and following it, a little later in life.

J.D. Hawk: Guitars, Bass, Vocals

2. LOW TIDE
There seems to be an alternating pattern, a cycle of
ebb and flow, to our feelings and the circumstances of
our lives. When you are down, don't give up, because,
as the saying goes; the darkest hour is usually right
before the dawn.

J.D. Hawk: Guitars, Bass, Vocals, misc.
percussion
Dave Ferrara: Drums

3. MILES AWAY
A personal song about love and forgiveness on the
journey of life.

J.D.Hawk: Guitars, Bass, Vocals
Dave Ferrara: Drums

4. LOVE THEM NOW
A reminder to fully appreciate the people in our
lives now,and to express it.

J.D. Hawk: Guitars, Bass, Vocals
Dan McKinney: Piano

5. STRONG LOVE
A personal song about the challenge of making love
work in times such as these.

J.D. Hawk: Guitars, Bass, Vocals, misc.
percussion
Dave Ferrara: Drums

6. THE HARD WAY
In the "school of life" it seems we learn in three
ways; by our own insight, by the wisdom or mistakes
of others, or, sadly, most often through our own
painful experience(the hard way).

J.D. Hawk: Guitars, Bass, Vocals, misc.
percussion

7. SAIL ON
This is a song for those who have been in a love
relationship that, in spite of their efforts, just
didn't work out.

J.D. Hawk: Guitars, Bass, Vocals
Dan McKinney: Piano

8. FOLLOW YOUR HEART
Life is a sacred journey upon which we all travel. But
no one else can choose the best path for you to follow.
The answer, as always, lies within.

J.D. Hawk: Guitars, Bass, Vocals
Dan McKinney: Piano

9. GIVING YOUR MIND TO HOLLYWOOD
This song is about the dark, decadent and
manipulative side of the "entertainment industry".

J.D. Hawk: Guitars, Bass, Vocals
Dave Ferrara: Drums

10. EMPTY PLACE INSIDE
A song about Love ending the loneliness we learn
to hide so well.

J.D. Hawk: Guitars, Bass, Vocals
Dan McKinney: Piano
Dave Ferrara: Drums

11. IT'S ONLY MONEY
A look at the perennial dilemma of money in our
lives and our world.
References to sayings from Gandhi, the New
Testiment, and others,
known and unknown, are woven throughout the song.

J.D. Hawk: Guitars, Bass, Vocals
Dave Ferrara: Drums

12. ANOTHER POINT OF VIEW
Our world transforms as we change our perspective.
Truths become visible that were there all along.
"Reality" is a work in progress.

J.D. Hawk: Guitars, Bass, Vocals
Dan McKinney: Piano

Two top notch musicians accompany J.D.Hawk on this CD:
Dan McKinney on piano, ( Dan currently plays keyboards with Jim Wieder, former member of The Band) and Dave Ferrara on
drums. (Dave is currently touring as drummer for the Herman's Hermits)

The lyrics are a very important part of what
this music is all about. Complete lyrics to all songs are available at my website : www.HawkMusic.com

Like a fine mellow wine, this CD goes down easy.
This CD is thoughtful as well as entertaining. Put it on, kick back, and enjoy the warm vocal tones, the interesting guitar work, and the lyrics that speak volumes to the head and heart. I highly recommend this CD.
