Album Notes
Finally! After many years of performing, Jeanne feels she has found her true calling in singing, playing guitar, and songwriting. The title of the album, "The Journey's about to begin..." reflects both exhiliarated self-realization, and excited promise for the road ahead.

Jeanne released this debut CD in August 2005, but she is not at all new to music or performing; she began singing, playing piano, and acting as a young girl in Missouri and has been acting professionally in Chicago for a number of years now. Her passion for singing/songwriting has become her focus in the last couple of years, and her time spent with her guitar now definitely outweighs her time learning lines! Meanwhile, she continues to work contractually as a school psychologist with a couple of suburban Chicago-area school districts (obviously, great fodder for song ideas!), while spending most of her free time focusing on that which she is most passionate about - songwriting and performing.

After beginning writing and performing her original tunes just a couple of years before the album's release, Jeanne completed her full-length CD - 15 lyrical little stories about life, love, laughter, and loss. These songs range from quietly acoustic, to a completely orchestrated full-band. It's folk-infused singer/songwriter stylings blended with soulful-pop. The album highlights Jeanne's passionate and powerful vocal expression and phrasing, as well as her intense, percussive guitar technique, often accomplished in open tunings.

Critics say: "The strong emotions explored on Jeanne T. Arrigo's CD ring true thanks to her classic folk singer vocals and deft touch with lyrics..." Terrence Flamm, Illinois Entertainer; "Arrigo is startlingly straightforward, earnest and organic in her material, which is enlivened by a beautiful singing voice...sincerity and artistry..." Music Connection Magazine.

Audience members have compared Jeanne's sound and style to that of Joni Mitchell, Shawn Colvin, Jonatha Brooke, and on occasion, Ani DiFranco.

Listeners have said: "Her songs are like a love letter I'd like to receive;"
"She creates whole stories in which her characters live."

Jeanne performs both solo acoustic showcases and gigs in and around Chicago, and gigs with other local singer/songwriters as they flesh out each others' songs with harmonies and more instrumentation. Jeanne is a natural performer, relishing every opportunity to share her intimate, organic style with listeners.

love love love
Stylistically fantastic with heartfelt vocals. I loved it and anxiously await Jeanne's next project.

classic folk singer vocals and deft touch with lyrics
The strong emotions explored on Jeanne T. Arrigo's...CD ring true thanks to her classic folk singer vocals and deft touch with lyrics. Using extended acoustic arrangements, Arrigo conveys the joy of romance on "Road Trip" as well as the pain of a woman trapped in an abusive relationship on "She." "Remember" both celebrates and mourns a departed loved one, while the couple in "Extraordinary Love" grows closer after having survived some tough times.

Music Connection Magazine

startlingly straightforward, earnest and organic
A Chicago singer/songwriter, Arrigo is startlingly straightforward, earnest and organic in her material, which is enlivened by a beautiful singing voice. "Road Trip" captures the sights, sounds and feelings of a happy drive. "She" and "The Woman I Was" explore personal secrets, repressions and the liberation one can feel when they are confronted. The sincerity and aristry of this performer could connect with a nice audience, if given the chance.

a very introspective and intense listening experience
I almost smelled Sunday morning coffee brewing as this CD started :) I couldn't help but be entranced with Jeanne's high end vocal expression and phrasing throughout...the production was very light, breathy and fresh! This treat...was a very introspective and intense listening experience. A beautiful music production enhanced the pleasure and left me feeling very relaxed and content. I truly enjoyed the changes in the cut "Extraordinary Love."

Jennifer Layton

a passionate, powerful, almost operatic voice
For those who like their folk songs more introspective and intense, Arrigo is their girl. She has a passionate, powerful, almost operatic voice that holds long notes for a long time. She moves past the action and goes right into the minds of the players. The reason becomes obvious when you visit her web site -- Arrigo is also an actress. Getting into characters' minds is what acting's all about.

I Always Knew
I always knew she'd do something this special. I used to sit next to her at the dorm piano in college, singing show tunes, standards and folk classics. Could always tell she was the type who was gonna make it.

Way to go JeanJeannie! Those you left in Iowa are very proud.

"If you love to explore the complex inner world of feeling and emotion, this is
The thing you notice the most about this CD is Jeanne Arrigo's voice. With a dynamic range and sound, it captures you and keeps you listening. Guitar is the perfect accompaniment to it, rounding out the folk feel that primarily defines this album. If you love to explore the complex inner world of feeling and emotion, this is a good bet -- Arrigo serves it up strong with her voice as the rich delivery...singing about the heavier subjects in life, and you really do feel the emotion ring out through the vehicle of her voice. She emotes extraordinarily well, especially in tracks like "In My Dreams," which was my favorite. With the strength of her vocal capacity, I would love to see even more layering in the lyrics to tease the listener a little more. The raw emotion is terrific, but it can be satisfying to work for the meaning behind it a little too. I saw flashes of that here and there in the lyrics, and it looks like she is already headed for a more complex pattern. I'd love to see the momentum continue in that direction.

Jeanne T. Arrigo ROCKS
Vocal power reminiscent of Joni Mitchell and arrangements that would fit in an Indigo Girls Songbook.

This CD delivers the warmth and power of Jeeanne's live performances with impeccable production in the studio.

Makes you shake your shoulder and tap your toe
Words that go straight to your soul, sung elegantly and beautifully. Her voice is shining clear. The guitar work rings out. Magnificently produced by someone with a great ear for this type of music.

beautiful voice, wonderful sound... well-adjusted love songs!
Why is it so hard to write a love song in which things work out? I don't know too many people who can pull this off... But Jeanne Arrigo does. She is not afraid to sing/write a happy love song! That is not the only topic, of course: I appreciated the humor of "The Chiropractor Song" and the wistfulness of "Remember," to mention just a few. This is the kind of cd that plays well in the car on long trips on a sunny day. Jeanne has a great voice, and there's wonderful musicality and a positive vibe going on here!
