ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
A fan recently wrote
\"This woman has more information in her voice
than the Yellow Pages.\"
As her friend, accompanist and longtime admirer, I find this quote to be profoundly accurate. Not only does Jeannie pack a jazz musician\'s sensibility into a song, she interprets lyrics with an elegant yet down-to-earth style that conveys her seasoned, sensual view of life and love. As I always exclaim at the end of a song I’ve played for Jeannie. “THAT’S how a jazz singer is supposed to sound!”
--Judy Roberts

Judy and I both love “torchy, rip-your-heart-out” ballads, are both seasoned travelers on the Chicago Jazz scene and we have both lived to know about lost loves. For me, singing with Judy is like being in heaven. She knows just what chords to play, where to fill and where to leave a space to let you deliver the song with your own unique phrasing. Maybe it’s because singers know how to accompany singers!
