Album Notes
"Chicago does not lack for engaging jazz trumpeters, vocalists, pianists, bandleaders, songwriters and arrangers — but how many can do it all? Jeannie Tanner happens to be one… If you've ever been fortunate enough to hear her pick up a horn, or sing a ballad or unveil an original song, you know that she practically exudes music." - Howard Reich, Chicago Tribune

Jeannie Tanner sings and plays trumpet on this original Christmas song that she composed which features the talents of her quartet: Lisa McQueen on piano; Cory Biggerstaff on bass; and Darren Scorza on drums. This upbeat New Orleans style track was mixed, mastered and produced by Darren Scorza at Mather Point Studio. "Santa's in the Chimney" is another original holiday tune that showcases Ms. Tanner's versatility as a songwriter and a recording artist. She has recorded two full-length albums of songs of the season that include more of her original songs and Christmas favorites: Joyful Season and A Little Bit of Christmas (both available on CD Baby, I-tunes, Amazon and other digital outlets).

Jeannie Tanner is a Chicago singer-songwriter and trumpeter who performs and records her original music - a mix of jazz, pop, R&B and Latin rhythms.  She has earned six ASCAP Composer Awards and has seven Grammy-considered albums.  Her holiday recording JOYFUL SEASON, was picked as one of the best albums of Christmas repertoire in 2014 by the Chicago Tribune. Howard Reich wrote — “Trumpeters who sing as well as Chicagoan Tanner are as rare as singers who play trumpet as well as she does. Both these talents — as well as Tanner's achievements as songwriter and arranger — radiate from the entirety of "Joyful Season," a recording brimming with optimism and hope.”

Continued Mr. Reich: “The sweet nature of Tanner's vocals in original songs such as "Christmas in a Cup" and "Joyful Season" and the obvious craft of her melodic writing in "You're My Gift Forever" and the blues-tinged "Wintery Sort of Feeling" distinguish this album. It's difficult to explain how one artist can do so many things so well, but listeners will be thankful that she does.”

Her latest album, WORDS & MUSIC was named by the Chicago Tribune as one of the Best of 2017. Music Critic Howard Reich wrote: ”A musical chameleon who sings, plays trumpet and composes with equal aplomb, Tanner outdid herself with “Words & Music.” Words and Music was Grammy-considered in the Best Traditional Pop Category.

“I’m reminded of what we call standards," explained Jason Marck of NPR in describing Tanner's writing style.  "That’s not just Tin Pan Alley with your Gershwins, Porter, your Rodgers and Hart; I also hear Brill Building influences like Mann & Weil, King & Goffin and Bacharach & David…”

Ms. Tanner’s songs have been featured in many television shows and movies including “Culinary Travels with Dave Eckert” (PBS/The Travel Channel), “Revenge” (ABC), “Single Ladies” (VH1 - produced by Queen Latifah) “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” (Bravo), “Young and the Restless” (CBS) and the Hallmark holiday movies "Christmas Joy," Christmas Cookies," "Christmas is in the Air" and “Signed, Sealed, Delivered for Christmas.” Her music can be heard on local, national and international radio via traditional stations, Sirius XM and on the internet where she has her own Pandora station.
