Jeff is a good songwriter and the CD is good listen!
The CD has a good sound to it, and has a good variety of material on it. A particular fave of mine is Hockey, a really nice rocking song about that same Canadian winter sport, Hockey.

Jeff manages to combine a Neil Young/John Lennon feel to his material, and one is hard pressed not to find something one likes on the album. Each song has a different feel to it, which makes it hard to buttonhole, but this is good.

Jeff gets a kind of haunting feel to "Manitoba", and "When I Build my Boat" has a south-sea calypso feel to it. "On the Bus" is a really sweet little guitar instrumental.

All in all it's a really nice CD with a good mix of material.

Mr. nicholson is my teacher
hey Mr. N,
nice to see that your really successful, I love his music.
And while he performed at the Canadian Embassy in 2005, the whole crowd went cheering for him. Mr. Nicholson is surely one of the few that is able to create such a wonderful music combining his harmanica in it as well.
GOOD JOB MR. N.!
your 2005 student that lives in the US

Very Good
I agree with many of the above reviews that "Manitoba" is a standout track and there are more good ones on here too. He better get his butt back to Canada for some shows.

Motivational....
We have this song on tape and we'd crank it up in the car on
the way to the rink before my son's hockey games to get him
pumped...we love this song. He's now playing in the CHL -
hopefully on his way to the big leagues.

Tokyo Classified (dan Grunebaum)

"Hockey" is a rousing, rollicking paean...
Once having organized his own cross Canada tour which took him to folk festivals across the country, Canadian singer/songwriter Jeff Nicholson is no stranger to the road. Now resident in Tokyo, the stability of the last few years have given him the freedom to work on his debut CD BANG!, two years in the making. Like his countryman Neil Young, Nicholson's tools of the trade are a steel-string guitar, harmonica, and voice. His rich harmonic guitar playing shines on the mellow ballads "Love Anyway" and "When I Build My Boat". "Hockey" is a rousing, rollicking paen to his favorite sport, which apparently has received airplay in NHL rinks across North America.
