ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
After several hundred shows with his band HUNDRED ACRES, Jeff Lane went on a journey of discovery. During this hiatus he played hundreds of songwriter rounds, open mics and private settings in a much more regional setting, simply to explore influences, performing styles, audience reaction, and self-discovery. Now it has truly paid off in this latest collection of raw acoustic performances, several recorded live in concert! The audio and musicianship is amazing!

About Jeff's band - In 2010, literally from out of nowhere, Jeff Lane and HUNDRED ACRES emerged with their first record and released it at their first gig! After realizing that his music wasn't meant to be kept secret any longer, Lane decided to reinvent himself by releasing a culmination of music he'd been building behind closed doors for 20 years. Since literally nobody knew that he even played guitar, he knew the music would have to be more than anyone would have ever expected. From there, he assembled a brave crew of musicians and recorded a record which was released on his 40th birthday under the guidance of producer Quentin Horton. "Where the Buffalo Roam" changed the songwriting scene in East Tennessee, finally telling stories that needed to be told. Since then, Jeff Lane & HUNDRED ACRES has been turning heads with their high-energy, mountain based soul-country sounds. From the first clanky guitar chord from Jeff's vintage electric archtop to the screaming Quentin Horton telecaster guitar solos, these boys will keep your attention. Foot stompin', dancin', hollerin' and cluckin' are all standard at HUNDRED ACRES shows. It all comes from the ability to cross over genres while attaining amazing energy with raw 3-part harmonies, the blending of Americana and 70's rock with Texas-boogie, classic soul and even a splash of blues! The hot musicianship of a HUNDRED ACRES live show is a memorable sight, accompanied by the amazing seemingly endless selection of original material that sounds like you should already know it! HUNDRED ACRES has appeared on radio and TV shows including WDVX's "Blue Plate Special", Knox ivi's "11 O'Clock Rock, WJHL TV11 in Johnson City and WCYB TV5 in Bristol and celebrates has performed over 200 shows, frequenting festivals and making guest appearances at hot spotlight venues. The "HeRD" as they're referred to by close fans, migrated in 2013 to a showcase in Nashville at the world famous Silver Dollar Saloon on 2nd Ave and has started collaborating with two different Nashville artists since. "It's been a wild ride" says Lane, "but I wouldn't change a thing!" Their freshman record, "Where the Buffalo Roam" featured the session work of Grammy-Award winning guitarist Tim Stafford of Blue Highway and the unbelievable fiddle-playing of Kevin Jackson, from Wolf Creek, and the sophomore record "Feel's Good" was an instant hit among local and regional fans and has made airplay on several stations. It would be fair to say that this show is fresh to the eyes and ears, and not to be taken lightly. When asked why he writes songs in different genres, Lane replies; "All great stories deserve the perfect soundtrack. Thunderchicken is a story about my old 1976 Thunderbird that I drove around in the late 80's with my buddies, and the 8 track in the dash played whatever I could find to put in it... I can remember the moments that go with the songs and I just want them to sound right...... like they sound in my head when I think about them. One thing is for sure, everybody that comes to a show leaves with an experience... and a smile!

""Feels Good", the album - I have to be so proud if this album, I couldn't stop listening. Your songwriting Jeff, reminded me some of the grear Darrell Scott, most known lately for the television series Justified's music :You Will Never Leave Harlan Alive, but whom has a resume of #1 songs going way back with Patty Loveless, Steve Earle, Emmylou Harris...Dixie Chicks, Alan Jackson, Paisley... the neat thing there is Scott's versions of his own songs are even better than the radio originals that launched the careers of many.... like Willie Nelson singing Crazy is maybe even with Patsy Cline, or Always on my Mind sung by Elvis is even with Willie's rendition... hard to famous icons, right? Well, D. Scott brings the emotion to his originals because he lived what he wrote... Jeff - Feels Good brings your experience to the forefront. The right person will take you places".

— Jason Scott Moore, Quote from JS Moore - author

“Hundred Acres is an East Tennessee-based band centered around the sharp vocals and unique songs of guitarist Jeff Lane. The rhythms mostly have an acoustic groove driven by the mandolin and guitar. You probably won’t confuse the songs with anyone else’s, and that’s a good thing, although you will hear echoes of Steely Dan, and occasionally the Beatles, Eagles, and even the Doobie Brothers. But it’s mostly the fertile mind of Jeff Lane, with great help from Matthew Oakes, Joe and Howard Bastedo and Quentin Horton, who also recorded and produced “Where The Buffalo Roam”. The project has a very live feel, on purpose… Sounds like Jeff is showcasing his tunes for you in the living room. And I can’t think of a better way to listen to cool new music”. “HUNDRED ACRES was selected to be featured in the 2012 Ad Campaign for Pointer-Brand Jeans. The song they are shown playing in this video is called "When the River is Low", written by Jeff Lane. In the video the band played the song without the lyrics, in the 3rd floor of the historic Pointer warehouse in downtown Bristol, TN...”
