Album Notes
Music for Stories Untold Volume 1 is my first CD release of a collection of compositions for film. These works have been developed over the past 15 years. Each composition can stand on its own as a performance piece for live orchestra/mixed ensemble, yet they’re works I imagine as film soundtracks.

Film score music typically evokes a range of emotions and imagery while supporting the overall scene or plot of the story being told. I believe these compositions are effective in stimulating images of scenes, places, and people. Here is a bit about each composition.

The Hidden Galaxy is a composition that was inspired by television shows and films about space travel and science fiction. The theme is epic, heroic, majestic and exudes a feeling of hope and optimism. It is orchestrated for a large symphony orchestra.

An Arabian Night is a work that combines Western Classical, Western Pop and Middle Eastern elements. A Syrian female vocalist, Middle Eastern musical instruments, and pop bass and Indian drum/percussion join the Western Classical symphony orchestra in a work that is mysterious and foreboding at times, yet as well expressive and passionate. The type of film this may be in would be a spy-action thriller.

The Children of War is a work that was inspired by the effects of war on children. The work is for symphony orchestra and full chorus and boys choir. This warlike march is characterized with passion, intensity, desperation and hope. It is not music that is supportive of war, but rather in support of justice for those suffering from war. The intense atmosphere sustained for the first several minute’s later reaches its culmination and arrives in a place where the mood shifts and becomes peaceful, and introspective. It’s as if the light of hope comes shining through the darkness of despair, ushering in a sense of tranquility and transcendence. It is orchestrated for a large symphony orchestra and full adult chorus, and children's chorus.

Palm Sunday is a work that begins in a magical and mysterious way. It later develops into a sound that is emotional, mysterious and poignant. Finally, a bright beam of light shines through the feeling of sadness, a transformation takes place, a breakthrough, and the mood shifts to one of hope. It is orchestrated for a chamber orchestra.

Rockin Asia Minor is a piece that was initially inspired by the band Led Zeppelin. I was going for a hard rock beat and feel. Again this is a musical mix of styles, female vocals, rock band and symphony orchestra. I imagine this being for a James Bond type of film. It is orchestrated for a large symphony orchestra, pop drums, bass and guitars.

Transcendence is an impressionistic work that while conveying a dreamy and ethereal tone is poignant and mysterious. Overall, it is a work that evokes a feeling of relief, peacefulness and freedom for the spirit within. It is orchestrated for a large string orchestra, harp and minimal winds and brass.

Epic Adventure Part 3 is a piece that is in a modern romantic style, evoking a sense of romance, adventure and daring. I initially began this piece with the opening theme entitled Epic Love Theme. The opening theme may perhaps still be classified as a love theme, however it is transformed as the tempo quickens causing the melody to become more passionate, frenzied and heroic. At times, for me it conjures up images of a tempestuous ocean voyage upon an old sailing ship from days gone by. I feel as though it would likely be the last movement in a three-movement work for symphony orchestra. It is orchestrated for a large symphony orchestra.

In addition to this type of music, I also compose for musical theater, modern dance and jazz ensemble. As well, I am a performer of both classical and jazz music on the French Horn.
