ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
You never know for sure what will happen at a Jeff Thompson show, but you can count on having a great time. Thompson's considerable guitar skills, four octave vocal range, and prolific songwriting skills alone would be more than sufficient to wow audiences, but it doesn't stop there. Not nearly. Between songs, Thompson's patter vacillates between standup comedy, poignant spoken word poetry, and often hilarious banter with bandmates and audience members. Stylistically, Thompson's sets range from poignant ballads to heartfelt soul to jazz to hard rock and back again, with satirical forays on the side, He often has audience members crying one song, laughing uproariously the next one, and getting down and dirty to the groove on a third. He sometimes improvises entire songs on the spot. Backed by the virtuosic Lenny Pettinelli on keys/bass and James Kylen on drums, he also enjoys the benefit of his bandmates' talents as backup singers, and many of the songs boast well-crafted three part harmonies. Thompson has won national songwriting contests and shared the stage with local and national legends, but you can still catch him playing around Asheville, NC!
