ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
sounder of echo and source, emotive universal and the sensual ahhhhhhh... recorder, performer, piano-er, spinner of words, consonance, dissonance, harmonic explosiveness... one who needs nature, inspired human connection, mother, world & life traveler of soul, mind and heart, and here to meet you in the beautiful folds of the music... you-me-us-one
__________
Dear person reading this..

Uh! I so don't enjoy self promotion and writing about myself as asked to do here. But then again, I am probably the best one to speak out about the music.

This record took many years to feel into, live through, create. It points to my personal story on one level, but on another level these micro layers are simply an expression of a larger universal experience.

i can talk and talk about it... but the truth is if I had the words to describe the music in a way that would have you feel it, then there would be no need for music. So I invite you to just step inside.. to listen... from a quiet room or a train, in a non multitasking fashion and let this entity of a record combine with your heart chemistry. Hope to feel you inside of it!

More blah, blah and good press below.

love,
jt

Born from the Womb of Silence was created over a 9 year period and recorded over 4 years at her private studio, The Barn in Santa Barbara, California. The record is graced by the talents of bassist Todd Sickafoose (Ani DiFranco), Danny Frankel on Drums & Percussion (k.d. Lang, Ricki Lee Jones, Laurie Anderson), guitarist Tim Young, cellist Misha Bodnar and violinist Lorand Lokuszta. Mastered and co-engineered by multiple Grammy award winner, Husky Hoskulds, (Tom Waits, Norah Jones, Fiona Apple). Produced, mixed and engineered by Jennifer Terran.

"After 9 years of blood, sweat and tears, a record potently close to my heart... a full body, mind, soul expression of the making of my family and the larger story of which we all part of. Reflections on life universal, birth, death and that beauty weaving throughout all of it, between all of us... all we find hard, all we are of.... the gorgeous intensity, the muck, the expanse and the silence from which all things arise... "

*****
JENNIFER TERRAN HAPPY PRESS:

"Endowed with a voice or heartbreaking purity and melodic talent, Jennifer Terran will most likely rise rapidly to the level of the greats.”
TELARAMA (Paris, France)

#1Best Album of the Year
"I'd gladly trade in all my Tori Amos CDs for Jennifer Terrans' "THE MUSICIAN"
HEAVEN MAGAZINE

“All of you wondering whether Kate Bush is going to release another album or it Tori Amos will ever make another record as good as her debut can stop bothering with such side issues. Here’s the album you’ve been waiting for. Astonishing!”
2nd BEST ALBUM OF THE YEAR
THE TIMES (London, UK)

"Breathtaking... timeless... pure... monumental.... Categorizing Jennifer Terran is impossible. Terran is a style of her own."
OOR MAGAZINE – (Netherlands)

"Haunting and intense, she sounds like a rawer version of Tori Amos. But Terran possesses a uniquely fierce and uncommon uncompromising voice"
UNCUT - (London, UK)

Top 10 CDs: “Terran is a breathtaking singer. Her vocal innuendos are pure, free of the mannerism of a lot of contemporary female colleagues."
FOCUS - (Belgium)

FOUR STARS!
ROLLING STONE - (Germany)

"Jennifer Terran is an unusual, very unusual kind of artist and quite a woman! A truly magnificent Film Noire Diva and a world-class songwriter-singer. This woman is unique, captivating vocalist, pianist, tenderly rebellious songwriter, producer by raison d'etre and necessity, hip-hop dynamic instructor and dancer, story-teller, an existentialist philosopher, an emotionally and intellectually charged teaser and provocative presence and most certainly a daring-devil entrepreneur."
HERALD TIMES PARADE – (London, UK)

"Not everybody can be both scary and vulnerable; Jennifer Terran (pronounced tearin') can. The scary part is her voice, which spirals into regions so high you fear she'll disappear or crash, and lately it has acquired a diamond-dust edge that can saw through a stack of hearts, first of all her own."
LA WEEKLY – (USA)

"If Jennifer Terran has a voice as much incomparable as unforgettable, it is because she is also that in real life. Her authentic and sensual voice awakes up in us emotions so deep inside that thinking of it makes nearly crying of pain or joy,
as if truth had a price."
MURMURES – (Switzerland)

The Musician: #1 BEST ALBUM OF 2002
"Terran is an extraordinary USA singer/songwriter and THE MUSICIAN places her firmly in the top echelon of her craft. This is remarkable pop music, and one of 2002's few essential albums"
SHAKENSTIR - (UK)

"The Musician is Terran's third album, but strangely enough it has the innocence of a debut. The compositions are fluent and playful, both rough and soft. Terran produced and mixed everything herself, but has succeeded in preventing that the spontaneity of her music was killed by perfectionism. At some point Tori Amos had that same gift, but in the meantime she has become a phenomena… Let's hope that Jennifer Terran will never become world famous."
PLATOMANIA – (Netherlands)

"Pure, that was this concert in one word. No setlist, no décor, only a small lady, with a voice like a storm behind the piano”
STORYVILLE MAGAZINE – (Netherlands)

"The music of Jennifer Terran is so beautiful it hurts."
CULTURE – (Netherlands)
