Album Notes
“Aguas” (2007) is the second solo CD from guitarist and composer Jens Viggo Fjord, after his “Marilua” (2000), recorded in São Paulo, Brasil, featuring some of the finest instrumentalists of this boiling capital of brazilian music.

The 4/6-07 Boris Rabinowitsch wrote in the national danish newspaper Politiken:

Jens Viggo Fjord is a danish guitarist who has falled in love with brazilian music. And, remarkably, a love which is happily returned, as shown on this cd recorded in São Paulo and in Madrid together with brazilian musicians, among others, the drummer Magno Bissoli.
Fjord is a very good instrumentalist, and with the exception of 'Favela' by A.C.Jobim, is he also composer of all the tunes. A couple of them sounds a little mainstream, but the majority are really first-class works, and a pair of them, as 'Borboleta', played in duet together with the guitarcolleague Rogério Souza, and 'Janaína' played by Fjord solo, are pure pearls.
But let me also mention the frevo 'Frívola, and the vivacious samba, Alô Bonfá, where we can listen to the excelent fluteplayer, Maurício de Souza, and the ballad 'Luar na Guanabara', in which Antonio Serrano elaborates the atmosphere with his lirical harmonic."

Olmir Stocker ("Alemão") - electric guitar
"Alemão" is almost an living legend on the brazilian jazz arena. He has recorded 12 cd's as a soloist, and he has played on international jazz festivals in more than 15 countries. He is still touring, as well as he is a busy teacher making guitar-workshops nearly all over the world.

Zé Alexandre - doublebass
The talented young bassplayer, Zé Alexandre, has already played together with many wellknown brazilian soloists, for example Mônica Salmaso, Paulo Moura, Márcio Montarroyos and others. He is joining several São Paulo-groups which has toured all over Brazil, and has participated in european jazz festivals, for example Banda Savana and Ulisses Rocha Trio.

Maurício de Souza - flute
Maurício de Souza has worked together with many known american soloists, afor example Lionel Hampton, Michel Legrand, George Shearing and Billy Eckstine. He is an habitual member of the São Paulo Orquestra Jazz Sinfônica, in which he has played together with the top of brazilian music - Sivuca, Hermeto Pascual, Tom Jobim, João Bosco, Milton Nascimento, Leila Pinheiro and many others. He is also habitual member of the group of the famous singer and guitarist, Toquinho, and recently he has accompagned stars like Caetano Veloso and Natalie Cole.

Magno Bissoli - drums and percussion
During his long career Magno Bissoli has performed in a lot of diferent groups with jazz, clasical and brazilian music. He is founder, leader and arranger of the braziljazz-ensemble, Bissamblazz, and habitual member of the São Paulo Symfoni. He has performed with a big number of brasilian and foreing soloists, like the singer Bibi Ferreira and the vocalquartet Manhattan Transfer, as well as he is a busy studiomusician, having produced 10 cd's. During years he has colaborated with the Rhytmic Conservatory in Copenhagen, and certainly, through his courses and performings with danish musicians, he has been a very important divulgar of the brazilian music in Denmark.

Ronaldo Souza - bandolim
Ronaldo Souza - "Ronaldo do Bandolim" - is one of Brazils leading bandolim-players. He has a very long CV, and among others he has been an habitual member of the legendary choro-group Época de Oro, during 15 years. Now he playes in the contemporary chorogroup, Trio Madeira Brasil, with whom he has won several prices, and toured in France and Portugal. Recently he has participated in the famous movie about the choro, "Brasileirinho". As a soloist he has participated in a lot of records and TV-shows together with the top of brazilian music, as for example Marisa Monte, Paulinho da Viola, Rafael Rabello, Chico Buarque, Baden Powell, Ney Matagrosso and Wagner Tiso.

Rogério Souza - 7-string guitar
Like his brother Ronaldo, Rogério Souza belong to the creme of the carioca choro. He has colaborated with famous soloists as Paulinho da Viola, Ney Matogrosso and Sérgio Ricardo, and he participates in the movie "Velho Amigo" about the maestro-guitarist, Baden Powel, and also in the film about the choro, "Brasileirinho". He is habitual member of the modern chorogroup, Nó em Pingo d'agua, witch has won several prices for their innovative interpretations of the traditional choro. He has toured in Portugal, France and Japan, and as producer, composer and arranger he has worked together with big number of samba singers and instrumentalists. He has just done his first soloalbum “Violão Brasileiro”.

Antonio Serrano - cromatic harmonic
The young spaniard Antonio Serrano is already a maestro on his instrument. The has worked together with the top of flamenco - Paco de Lucía, Vicente Amigo og Esperanza Fernández - and together with famous spanish folk singers, as for example Juan Manuel Serrat, Joaquin Sabina, Ana Belén, and well as he has done filmmusic for the Pedro Almodóvars "Carne Trémula". Ideed a very talented and versatile musician always able to make interesting and delicate interpretations, as it (of course...) also is the case with his work on "AGUAS".
