Album Notes
Jerry Costanzo and The Great American Songbook.
They go together like Apple & Pie.

Invitation is Jerry’s third album as he continues on his mission to bring the American Songbook into the twenty-first century. Featured here are fourteen classic standards, some of which were part of his seven month engagement at Feinstein’s Night Club at the Lowe’s Regency in New York. One of the most outstanding cuts is a sensitive medley of two Nat Cole classics, The Lonely One/NatureBoy. Other highlights included a duet with jazz pianist/vocalist Champian Fulton on Here’s To The Losers, a swinging arrangement of Frank Sinatra’s 1963 hit. Another wonderful duet is with international singer/entertainer Giada Valenti, Little Boat, a romantic Bosa Nova. Plus a heart felt take on the beautiful ballad Again and a captivating take on the title track. All the selections on this latest CD are arranged by acclaimed pianist Tedd Firth. Others in the band: Joe Cohn, guitar; Neal Miner, bass; Jonathan Mele, drums; Brian Pareschi, trumpet. All are given plenty of room to show off their unique musical talents throughout this disc.
Jerry Costanzo has a warm and distinctive style. He knows how to properly treat a lyric, and he’s faithful to the composer’s melody. He can swing an uptempo tune with ease, and when he croons a ballad, it’s as smooth as cashmere.
This is a dynamic and charismatic performer on records and in person. Jerry Costanzo is an excellent addition to your Must Play and Must See list. Invitation is a delight and as rewarding as his previous releases. He’s the best. Sit back and enjoy.
