Album Notes
Jessica Roemischer is an award-winning pianist, composer, writer, and teacher. Born into a musical family, she began piano at age six and was improvising and composing from the outset. Her pedagogical lineage through her mother, also a pianist, links directly to Frederic Chopin and Ludwig van Beethoven. Captivated by the timeless beauty of classical music, Jessica was also a "child of the '60's" (and '70's) and found herself equally as compelled by the soaring harmonies of Crosby, Stills, and Nash, the inimitable guitar of Led Zeppelin, and the hypnotic vocalizations of Van Morrison. Learning to play her favorite songs by ear, she pursued classical piano studies and won awards at the Westchester (NY) Symphony and Westchester Conservatory Concerto competitions, among others. Having been trained in the finest European tradition, Jessica goes beyond her classical roots to bring to life a vast spectrum of sacred and secular music from Gregorian chant to Bach to Traditional melodies to the Dave Matthews Band. "Light Born of Light" is her third album. Jessica has performed widely, including on seven occasions for Governor Deval Patrick. She re-defines the piano concert into a multi-dimensional event. Jessica brings to life four centuries of music as she plays selections from her piano CD's. She'll share inspiring stories and anecdotes with the audience, as well as read excerpts from her book, titled In Duet with God: The Story of a Lifelong Friendship, as well as other writings. During her performances, Jessica will often invite a volunteer to improvise with her at the keyboard--experience not necessary. Her Duet Paradigm(R) led to a 2012 CNN Heroes Award nomination and has been supported by the Boston Symphony Orchestra. A unique experience of music, word and spontaneous creativity.
