Album Notes
Douglas Wayne Jessop, known professionally by his stage name Jess Wayne, is a Los Angeles area musician, singer-songwriter, poet and writer. He is the principal songwriter, lead singer and guitarist for the Jess Wayne Band. He is making music with a groove for adults who have lived and know that life is complex, messy, muddy, simple and beautiful - all at the same time.

Jess Wayne’s music is a comfortable fusion of contemporary folk, chill blues, smooth jazz and Americana music with “storytelling, wisdom and naked honesty.” The debut album, Ride The River, was released on June 10, 2016 and co-produced with noted Los Angeles arranger, composer and arranger John Matthew Rosenberg.

The band was formed in Los Angeles in 2015 when he reached out to three world-class players for a recording and performing project. They loved the music and decided to stay. The band now includes John Matthew Rosenberg on piano, keys and vocals (Jerry Garcia, Cab Calloway, Carlos Santana, Bonnie Raitt, Huey Lewis), Jimmy Ledezma on percussion (Arco Iris, Los Pinguos, Wild Colonials) and Jesse Holsapple on bass and backup vocals (Dale Okerman, Tiran Porter - both of Doobie Brothers fame). Alexis Sklarevski (CSN, the Zappas, Carole King, Chuck Berry) played bass on the “Ride The River” recording.

“Jess Wayne stuns with debut…one of the most impressive and notable records of 2016.” Emily Hinde, No Depression (September 29, 2016).

“blissful combination of modern Folk, Blues, easy Jazz and a dash of Americana … innovative and unique” Louise Parker, Paste Magazine (September 29, 2016).

“as many moments of blissful beauty as there are of thought provoking, real-life reflection."- Rebecca Cullen, Stereo Stickman (July 08, 2016).

“molten hot concoction of smooth jazz, contemporary folk, and cool blues that bring out the Americana “storytelling” — Sherryl Craig for Nashville Music Guide (Sept. 19, 2016)

“the essence of life’s complexity, for people who know that life is sometimes messy and muddy, yet simple and beautiful all at the same time… wisdom and honesty…”
— Eileen Shapiro for The Huffington Post

“well-seasoned, fine like aged wine, and as tasty as grandma’s jam.”
— Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman for Middle Tennessee Music (August 17, 2016)

“like riding down a winding, clear-watered river with a steady, slow current on a warm, sunny day—preferably with a cold fruit smoothie in one hand and a good book in the other.”
— Sahar for Blogcritics (August 24, 2016)
