Album Notes
The second album release by Nashville's John England & the Western Swingers, "Thanks a Lot" contains 12 songs associated with Honky Tonk hero Ernest Tubb. This album, like the group's earlier "Swinging Broadway" is full of the happy sound of Bob Wills-style Western Swing. All the Swingers make star turns here, and the group is supported by some of Nashville's finest, including a horn section on 4 tracks.

A tip of the hat to one of country music's greatest figures, "Thanks a Lot" is music for listening or dancing. The Swingers give lively performances of some of ET's best songs in a way that makes you think the Texas Troubadour could've been a Texas Playboy!

Thanks A Lot from down under!
What a joy this album is - great singing, great musical backing, great arranging & producing, & add to all this, the songs of Ernest Tubb. C'mon people, just what more could one ask for? I'll be honest with you, although I've been a country music fan for nearly 50 years (& for much of that time, Honky Tonk & Western Swing), & had never heard of John England & the Western Swingers, until I logged on to the CD Baby website, & came across Thanks A Lot. Now I'm a died-in-the-wool fan, & can't wait to here more of their music. Great music boys - don't let anyone tell you different, & keep on swingin'. If you ever get to tour in Australia, I'll be there to see & hear you.

Even better than "Swinging Broadway"!
I loved their first CD, but this one's even better! Lots more detail to the music. It's fun!!

Lars G Lindberg - Radio Siljan - Mora- Sweden

To write something very good about something that is very good is kind of tricky. But to make it short and sweet - this is one heck of a album. Western Swing in the purest form. Great musicians, a bunch of great songs and the train is moving on down the track. I got runned over by many songs and artists during my 23 years in radio. But this guys really knocks. Swing It Boys.

This is one FANTASTIC cd! I have had nothing but positive comments from my listeners, who always want to know, "Where can I buy that??!!" I'll keep playing all of John England's material... it's all great!

Ernest Tubb would be extremely proud !!
There's only two western swing bands in the Nashville area that continue this tradion. John England & The Western Swingers is one of them and they do it proud. Speaking of proud, ET would be very proud. I play Thanks Alot & Swingin'
on Broadway on my Backforty Bunkhouse Show and you need to have these super CD's in your western swing music library as well. Joe Baker, AWA Western Music Disc Jockey of the year, Cowtown Society of Western Music Hall of Fame Inductee and Disc Jockey of the Year.

This is the kind of music that make you smile and reach for the repeat button while your feet keep on tapping the floor.
The album starts with the best recording I ever heard of the classic "Thanks A Lot", you have never heard it played like this before.
And then it goes on and on in the swingin' style.
One of the best tracks is "I'm Lookin' High And Low For My Baby", this one's really make you wanna dance.
If you are a fan of western swing and country music with a twang, don't miss this one.
Not a bad track here and very great vocals and backing!

Lotta Tubb
On paper this is a perfect idea. After all, Ernest Tubb and the Troubadours' Texas honky tonk is a close kin to classic western swing, and there is a wealth of great songs to choose from. John and the Swingers do a great job bringing these barrom classics to life, just as they do at Robert's on Lower Broadway, Nashville, USA. Check out the cool rock & roll arrangement of "It's Been So Long Darlin'".
