ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The opening track, "Wire", begins with sounds from the inside of the piano. An aural landscape forms deep in the imagination, suggesting travels in strange but beautiful worlds. It prepares the listener for the following tracks which, although purely acoustic piano, are also exploring inner awareness. The music draws from the best of J. Gary Sill's library of improvisation compositions recorded late at night over two years (2016 - 2017).

The track "Removing The Shoe From The Temple" is performance in the tradition of an evening Indian Raga, quietly building a "temple" of melodic ideas towards a blissful intensity that returns into the night on it's own magic carpet. Other tracks get inside the music of the Roma, Twentieth Century sound sculpture or make use of current Pop and Jazz song forms. The deceptively simple, somewhat minimalist piece, "Power Of Pensive Souls" still stays true to the heart as well as the ear and develops it's own sincerity from one moment to the next.

Listening to the tracks in order reveals a larger, more abstract vision of a hidden civilization of the collective human mind; it's invisible but shared experience.
