Album Notes
A journey through the musical antiquities of the Celtic age, with an array of influences from Celtic to classical to Middle Eastern. From the intricately woven instrumental "Manzikert," to the hauntingly melodic, traditional folklore inspired strains of "Bonny Was The Lady," through the balladry of "Endless Knot" and the evocative rhythms of "Midsummer's Night," the rich musical tapestry journeys from the medieval sands of Turkey, to the Byzantine Empire, into the moors and legends of the ancient Celts, onward through temples of memory.

"I came across a reference to the Celts in Asia Minor early in the eleventh century as the Mediterranean world and the world around them came to a crossroads and began to follow the migration of the many Celtic tribes as the Byzantine Empire declined and the Normans invaded the British Isles," Jillian explains. "The memories that had passed into the resting places of history, myth, legend, and forgotten happenings were events that drew me to the stepping stone of remembrance and lineage. In turn this became the foundation of the music, and as I experienced it, the common thread that held the Celts together through the opening of this great cultural Pandora's Box."

Fresh and Inviting Contemporary World/Celtic Music
The shimmering Contemporary World/Celtic songs on the album, “The Ancestry,” by Jillian LaDage are rich in sound and texture. These melodies are not only interesting and melodic, but offer a mysterious quality to them. LaDage voice is crisp and clean as she sings with intense lyrical content. The song, “Midsummer\’s Night” is a beautiful blend of instruments that swirl around the dynamic rhythms. Tender and sweet, “The Black Woods,” is delicate in sound and filled with mysterious poetic lyrics. A hint of Middle Eastern tonality on, “Keltoi” gives way to an alluring ambiance as each instrument is genuine about its roots and sound. If you’re a fan of Contemporary Celtic music that is fresh and inviting, then you will be delighted when you hear the charming songs on, “The Ancestry.”

A must have album!
WOW! A fantastic album for any music lover! Jillian LaDage does a great job at mixing so many different instruments and sounds together into a beautiful collection of songs! There are sounds that are clearly Celtic, but it is much more than "traditional" Celtic music. I've played this album for all of my friends and family and they all LOVE it! Jillian LaDage is a true talent! I can't wait to hear more from her!
